There are two types of properties:
Physical property – a characteristic or description
of a substance that can be used to identify it.
Ex. Size, shape
Chemical property – when a substance reacts with
something else and turns into a new substance
Ex. Ability to combustion (burn)
Make your own notes: from your textbook (pgs 16-18),
write the meaning and illustrate an example for each
phycial and chemical properties:
Physical properties: Chemical properties:
- hardness - combustibility
- state - reaction with acid
- malleability
- ductility
- melting and boiling points
- crystal form
- solubility
- viscosity
- density
