Dear Parents and Students, As most of you know I am expecting my second child, thanks to God’s blessing! My husband and I are overjoyed with the reality of our expanding family, however sometimes change brings heartache as well. After much prayer and tears, I have decided that the best thing for my students, the studio and my family is to no longer be the owner of Kat McCord Dance, Inc. This decision was not come to easily or quickly. Once I learned I was pregnant I began wondering how I was going to be able to do everything next year. I clearly remember how difficult Georgia Hayes’ first year was for me, trying to balance being a mother and running the studio. I know adding another child will only add to the stress and the feeling of being overwhelmed. I feel like I would be trying to do too many things to the point where I wouldn’t be doing any of them as well as I would like to. I have always felt that if I could not give the studio everything I thought it deserved then I wanted to leave it in the hands of someone who could. I love all the kids too much to not be able to give them my best. The truth is if I lived in Rocky Mount I would not even be able to consider this, however we chose to live where we do and I wouldn’t change that. We love our life in Washington, but the commute and the hours we work are challenges that seem too much at this time in my life. I have cried so much about this decision, but God has finally given me peace. He has called me at least for now to be home as a wife and mother. God has also been working in Courtney’s heart to give her the courage and commitment to step up in the new role of owner of the studio. I am so blessed that she came into my life six years ago, she has been a loyal employee and friend. As hard as it is for me to let the studio go, I am so excited for her. Having her own studio was a childhood dream of hers as well and now she is getting a chance to realize it! Many of you know that Courtney is expecting her second child as well around Thanksgiving! Fortunately she has a lot of family support and lives locally so she will be able to still give the studio the attention that it needs and deserves where I feel I cannot. I truly feel this is the best thing for everyone, students, parents, Courtney and myself. More than anything I want the positive, Christian environment that it at the center of Kat McCord Dance to stay strong and true to what it started as. Courtney is willing to continue this, allowing my dream to live on. I cannot express to all of you how much the last ten years have meant to me. Being a part of your lives and watching you grow as dancers and as people has been the most rewarding experience of my life. I will miss seeing your faces each week and listening to all the drama that goes on in your daily lives! However, I have to remind myself that this is not goodbye. I will see you all the first week of class, throughout the year and I will definitely be helping out at the recitals. I will be helping Courtney behind the scenes as well to ensure that the transition is a smooth one for everyone. Please trust that I am doing what I feel is the best thing for the studio and support Courtney in her new role as owner. I love you all and look forward to seeing how the studio will grow and prosper in the years to come. Thank you again for ten amazing years!
