Co-Ed T-Minors will teach basic skills and knowledge of the game. At this level, participants will be taught proper throwing technique, proper fielding technique, and the different positions of the playing field, proper batting stance and grip on the bat. Up to 5-10 pitches will be allowed per player, the numbers of pitches are at the discretion of the coaches. If the batter is unable to hit the ball, then the ball will be placed on the tee. Players will not be called out in this league. Boys Intermediate Ages 7 & 8 years old This league will be a Coach Pitch league that expands on basic skills and knowledge of the game. At this level, participants will be taught positions of the playing field, rules, Basics i.e.: fielding, hitting, throwing, beginning base running and sliding. The runner will not be allowed to steal bases at this age group. Boys Juniors Ages 9 & 10 Years old Boys Juniors will be a kid pitch program that includes basics as taught above as well as introducing sliding, leading off, stealing, and game situations. Boys Seniors Ages 11 & 12 years old Boys Seniors will incorporate the basics as mentioned in all of the above leagues as well as strengthen the knowledge and ability of sliding, leading off, stealing, pitching and game situations. Boys River Raisin Ages 13 & 14 years old Accelerated River Raisin League is a competitive style baseball league in which the league will travel from school to school competing against one another. Players will try out for a position on the team. Those selected should be knowledgeable in all of the above leagues. This league follows the full rules of high school baseball. Recreation River Raisin Ages 13 & 14 Years old Recreation River Raisin is our in-house baseball league in which the boys will still travel from school to school competing against one another. Players should be knowledgeable in all of the above leagues. This league also follows the full rules of high school baseball. Girls Juniors Ages 7, 8, & 9 years old Girls Juniors will teach basic skills and knowledge of the game. At this level, participants will be taught proper throwing technique, fielding technique, positions of the playing field, proper batting stance and grip on the bat, further development of pitching technique (modified or slingshot), introduction to sliding, basic rules of the game, strategies and game situations, and responsibilities of each position. Girls Seniors Ages 10, 11, & 12 years old Girls Seniors will incorporate the basics as taught above as well as further development of pitching technique (windmill, modified or slingshot) by allowing all pitching to be done by the players. No pitching allowed by a coach during a game for any reason. Importance of sliding into the bases avoiding injury, advancing yourself for the benefit of your team, basic rules of the games such as innings, three strikes, three outs, fair ball vs. foul ball, etc., game strategies and situations and responsibilities of each position. Girls Monroe County Fast pitch Ages 13 & 14 years old Girls Monroe County Fast Pitch is a competitive style softball league in which the league will travel from school to school competing against one another. Players will try out for a position on the team. Those selected should be knowledgeable in all of the above softball leagues. This league follows the rules of high school softball. *Ages listed above are suggestions only. If you feel your child is capable of playing up or should play down, please enroll your child in the league you wish. Ida Recreation is sponsoring a logo contest again this year! Last Year’s winning design was by Max Kull. We are looking for creative designs for the upcoming season. This contest is open to children ages 5 years through 14 years old. Submit your drawing on an 8 ½ x 11 white piece of paper. You may also submit by scanning your drawing and e-mailing to firstname.lastname@example.org Please include your name, grade and phone number on the entry.
