                  Academic Parent Action Teams (APAT) 2009 - 2010

1. Initial planning meeting with Principal, Title I, Parent Liaison and Comm. Ed.

 Introduce and discuss APAT Program
 Select classroom teacher
 Identify each person’s role and responsibility

2. Title I Coordinator and Liaison have first meeting with participating classroom teacher

 Introduce and explain APAT Program to participating teacher
 Determine date of first APAT workshop

3. First APAT workshop

 Select activities that will take place during first workshop
 Teacher sends first APAT workshop invitation letter to classroom parents
 Liaison personally invites parents over the phone to attend the first APAT workshop
 Prepare progress report for individual students to be shared with parents during the first
  workshop
 Parents and teachers set specific academic goals with date of completion
 Parents take a survey
 Survey results are entered into the computer

4. Schedule individual parent teacher interaction time

 Have a calendar ready to schedule each individual parent-teacher meeting time

5. Second APAT workshop

 Select activities that will take place during second workshop
 Teacher sends second APAT workshop invitation letter to classroom parents
 Parent Liaison personally invites parents over the phone to attend the second APAT
  workshop
 Prepare progress report for individual students to be shared with parents during the
  second workshop
 Parents and teachers set academic goals with date of completion

6. Title I Coordinator, Teacher, and Parent Liaison present APAT Program to school staff

7. Third APAT workshop

 Select activities that will take place during third workshop
 Teacher sends third APAT workshop invitation letter to classroom parents
 Liaison personally invites parents over the phone to attend the third APAT workshop
 Prepare progress report for each student to share with parents during the third workshop
 Parents and teachers set academic goals with date of completion
 Have parents take a survey
 Survey results are entered into the computer
 Celebrate accomplishments!
