Braille Printer – Output Device used to produce Braille codes, raised in paper.
Big-screen Monitor – Monitor above the conventional dimensions that increases the screen’s
content (characters, figures, etc.) directly proportional with its size.
Software-Magnifier - Software that increases text and graphics in the screen.
Screen reader – software and/or hardware that produce auditive information based on visual
information. In other words, it reads to the user.
Stickers for the keys on the keyboard – When we stick them on top of the keys, they facilitate
the visualization of the characters, since they are printed in a large format.
Hardware-Magnifier – Hardware device that connects to a video camera, to the computer or
TV monitor; increasing the size of documents or objects under the camera.
Alternative devices to aim the cursor/arrow – A variety of devices that can substitute the
mouse in your computer.
Voice-recognition system – Software that, when used with a microphone, allows the user to
use his voice as an alternative input method.
AutoComplete Software – Implementation of an Input acceleration method that reduces the
number of keys the user punches from a list of words, from which the computer predicts and
completes what the user is trying to enter.
SPEECH AND LISTENING DEVICES
Assistive Listening Devices (ALD) – Small electronic devices for personal use that amplify
sounds, allowing the user to better listen
There are three categories of ALDs, depending on the technology they use: FM, infrared and
Vocal Communication Boosters – Devices that help people with speech problems or
deficiencies through voice synthesizers or recorders.
"Captioning" – Explanatory text that comes with the audio of a recording (film, CD, DVD),
TV program or any other multimedia production.
Chat - Software that allows for simultaneous exchange of communication, in real time
E-mail – Electronic messages sent through LAN or through the Internet.
Devices TTY, TDD o TT – Hardware devices with keyboard and viewfinder used for
communication/sending of text via telephone. They are also commonly known as TTY
