Community Charters: the latest
Key speaker: Joe Micheli, Principal Social Inclusion Officer, Community
Planning, Barnsley. Joe has been involved in the development of a number of
Charters across the country and will talk about how and why Charters have
developed, the key stages involved, skills required and most common pitfalls.
Examples will also be available.

Case Study –The Role of Neighbourhood Boards in Place shaping
Tanya Gallagher, Acting Head of Neighbourhoods will talk about the
development and introduction of Neighbourhood Boards in Blackburn with
Darwen and highlight the key role the boards have in shaping the priorities for
their neighbourhoods and holding public services to account.
In addition to presentations there will be facilitated discussions where participants will
be invited to share their experiences and reflect on the implications for their work.
The North West Together We Can Network supports regional learning
opportunities for local authority practitioners, policy-makers, councillors and
community representatives who are keen to explore issues of community
engagement and active citizenship.
