    GRCC Trustees Name Presidential Search Committee;
              Schedule Whole Day For Input
Monday, May 5 Grand Rapids, MI - Continuing an accelerated
schedule to replace outgoing President Juan Olivarez, the
search firm hired to head up the search, Association of
Community College Trustees (ACCT), announced late today the
names of the search committee, as well as a series of forums for
public input.

The search committee, representing several GRCC groups and a        GRCC GET RUNNING CHARITY CLASSIC TEAM

TRIO helps Grand Rapids Community
College students go places
“Just getting to college had its obstacles:
One student spoke little English, the other
two had little money.
But, after two years at Grand Rapids
Community College, Chelsie Heard, Kayla
Holtz and Leydi Roa-Torres are graduating
tonight, the first in their families to earn a
college diploma.
And the trio who let nothing stand in their
way have another honor ahead of them.
They are among only 20 college students
nationwide to earn a scholarship to a            GRCC GET RUNNING CHARITY CLASSIC TEAM BIO:
leadership training program in June at the       MTEC Running For The North Kent Service Center
University of Liverpool in England…”
                                                 The Tassell M-TEC Running Team includes faculty and staff that
                                                 have come together to have fun and raise money for the North
                                                 Kent Service Center, a faith-based, non-profit organization that
                                                 assist families in Northern Kent County with food, clothes and
                                                 other services to help them cope with a crisis. The M-TEC Team
                                                 is represented by Scott Mattson. Jennifer Attila, John VanElst,
                                                 Moss Ingram, Duane McIntyre and their Team Captain George
                                                 Waite.

SSPD GRANTS: MAY FUNDING ROUND
The deadline for submission of grant applications under the Support Staff Professional Development (SSPD) program is
4:30 p.m., May 16, 2008. T he SSPD application packet and SSPD Guidelines are available in the GRCC Internal
Grants area of the Grants Office website at www.grcc.edu/grants. Applications must include a Supervisor’s Approval form,
a budget form and budget documentation. If you have any questions about SSPD grants, please contact Judith Larsen,
Grants and Resource Development Officer at 234-3910 or at jmlarsen@grcc.edu. Good luck!

Tornados Running For The GRCC Salem Avery Scholarship Fund

Click here to become further acquainted with the rough, tough, and terrible Tornados, who will be running in support of the
Salem Avery Children of Alcoholics Scholarship. The Salem Avery Children of Alcoholics Scholarship was created in 2008
and is designed to award $250 scholarships each year.
