AQIP Background
The Higher Learning Commission
launched AQIP in 1999 with a grant
from the Pew Charitable Trusts.
Currently over 180 institutions demonstrate
they meet the Higher Learning Commission's
accreditation standards through challenging
activities that naturally fit with their work to
improve their key systems enabling higher
performance. (of 1500 in the NCA)
AQIP Background
The Academic Quality Improvement
Program supports continuous
performance improvement in higher
education.
AQIP provides an alternative
process for colleges and
universities to maintain their
regional accreditation.
The AQIP Process- our 3 AP’s
# 1 Assessment of Student Learning -
relates to AQIP Criterion #1–Helping
Students Learn.
# 2 Student Retention Project - relates
to AQIP Criterion #1– Helping
Students Learn.
#3 Information Systems Project. -
relates to AQIP Criterion #6 –
Supporting Institutional
Operations.
The AQIP Process
These projects are the starting point.
Progress will be tracked.
When completed, they are retired. **
New quality improvement projects can
then be chosen.
Action projects should be accomplished
in 1-3 years. Some may be completed
in less than one year. *
Our Action Projects * need to
align within the nine AQIP
categories.
Helping Students Learn
Accomplishing Other Distinctive Objectives
Understanding Students (and other
stakeholders) Needs
Valuing People
Leading and Communicating
Supporting Institutional Operations
Measuring Effectiveness
Planning Continuous Improvement
Building Collaborative Relationships
