ECONOMICS 212
SPRING SEMESTER, 2003

INSTRUCTOR: Ben Baker, CPA
            Office: 220 Chambers

Office hours: M-W-F: 9:30 -- 10:15
                M-W: 11:30 -- 12:15
                Other times by appointment

Schedule: M-W-F 12:30 -- 1:20

Honor Code: All work in this course is bound by the Honor Code. Students may not use reviews or multiple-
                choice questions from prior semesters.

Attendance: Students are encouraged to attend all class meetings. It is it the responsibility of the student to make
arrangements to make up work missed because of absences.

Grading: Three reviews will be administered during the semester. The tentative dates for reviews are listed
below. However, any change in the date will be announced at least one week in advance. A
comprehensive final examination will be given during the examination period. Students are required
to take reviews on the assigned dates unless unavoidable conflicts arise; in such cases reviews may
generally be taken early. Only under extraordinary circumstances may a review be taken at a date
later than that assigned. This rule is in fairness to other students who take the review as assigned.

In addition to homework assignments, multiple-choice question sets will be distributed for each set of
chapters to be tested. These questions are part of the final course grade and students must work
independently on the questions. Students may use the text and notes from class to answer the
questions. The multiple-choice questions are due at the beginning of the period during which the
review is scheduled, even if an extension of time has been granted to take the classroom portion of
the review. Multiple-choice questions for Chapters 15, 16 and 24 are due at noon on Reading Day.
The multiple-choice questions may be turned in early but not late. It is expected that the multiple-
choice questions will be answered as material is covered, as a guide for study. Therefore, questions
turned in late will NOT BE ACCEPTED, under any circumstances.

Students will be expected to analyze a set of corporate financial statements. Details of the
                assignment will be distributed later.
Grade assignments:
Three hourly reviews (17% each) 51
