What is Modeshift?

Modeshift is a national membership organisation that specialises in active and sustainable
travel and provides behaviour change support for those working with children, young people,
families and school communities.

Modeshift also seeks to influence national debate, government policy and public opinion -
and works with other organisations to achieve common goals.

Objectives:
    To increase active and sustainable modes of travel journeys for education
    To support the provision of skills, training and experiences to enable young people to
       travel more safely and independently

     What will Modeshift provide under this agreement?
     Regional/Sub national support for Local Authority officers
     This function will replace the Regional School Travel Advisor (RSTA) support which ended on 31st March
     2011 and will provide:
          Two regional meetings for networking and information sharing
          Termly newsletter for you to distribute to schools and other contacts with best practice case
             studies and ideas for campaigns
          Termly competitions for your schools and their pupils
          Email updates where applicable disseminating key government policy, campaigns, initiatives and
             other relevant information as well as additional ad-hoc communications on important issues or
             events which are time sensitive.
          Respond to Government policies, consultations on behalf of all members
          Access to the Modeshift website for up to 5 users
          Online e-forum for sharing issues/questions/practise and an online knowledge bank of
             materials, documents, case studies, presentations and policy documents
          Information and advice support service (phone and email) for LA officers
          *One free space at the School Travel Convention. All inclusive of conference attendance,
             accommodation and catering. An early bird rate will be offered to other members in the LA
             until June 1st.
          Discounts secured with partners and sponsors of Modeshift including – a free Scooterpod in
             the colour of your choice from Cyclepods Ltd worth £350
     Monitoring and evaluation
         Annual survey of schools to establish take up of, attitudes to and effectiveness of STAR
            (Sustainable Travel Accredited and Recognised) Accreditation and related interventions,
            campaigns and events. Results will be provided at local and national levels.

            membership therefore entitles you to vote on changes either proposed by the management
            board or by other LA members
