RE: Notice No. 65/Tax Classification of Cigars and Cigarettes
I respectfully submit my comment regarding the above captioned Notice No. 65
regarding the Classification of Cigars and Cigarettes. I fully support this tax
classification change that would greatly define how cigars are classified in the
market. They are just as dangerous as cigarettes and people make that
misconception everyday. They need to be highly taxed just like cigarettes are.
Every day more and more young children start smoking cigars and cigarettes.
We need to make is harder for them to get at. Making the tax higher may not be
the answer but I definitely think it’s a step in the right start. Manufacturers of
cigars need to be paying the same taxes as cigarette manufacturers.
I am a citizen of Minnesota and work in the legal field. I feel very strongly about
this topic and I am in complete support of your proposed rule. Thank you for
taking the time to read my comments.
Very truly yours,
