874-1 CONSULTING SERVICES
At J.O. Rodgers & Associates – The Diversity Coach™, we use a simple consulting process
(Assessment - Visioning - Learning) and a disciplined Implementation Process to help manage
change efficiently. We first assess the organization's readiness and its capacity for creating an
inclusive work place. Then, we guide the leaders in (en)visioning the benefits of an inclusive and
diversity mature organization. Finally, we present learning activities that fill the gap of attitudes,
skills and knowledge needed to realize the vision. Some of our standard consulting services are
listed:

Diversity Management Strategy
Implementing a diversity management strategy should be approached with the same level of
commitment and resources as any other organizational strategy. There must be a systematic,
disciplined, and well-managed process of assuring that the objectives of the strategy are realized.

Rather than wander aimlessly doing whatever is currently in vogue regarding diversity, why not
adopt a process that lets you reach a predictable outcome; an outcome that has clear business
benefit. Once you see the advantage of diversity management as strategy, you have to

execute. We offer a diligent, disciplined, directed approach to implementing your diversity
management strategy. Installing a diversity management capability is a change process.

Strategic Planning
Like any other strategy, a diversity management strategy can become long, complex and
convoluted. "Yet another 1 ½ inch binder on the bookshelf" is how one corporate officer
described their diversity (and inclusion) strategy.

Strategy must be developed by the leaders. But, for strategy to come to life (be executed) you
have to make sure all the people are engaged, informed, involved, and in agreement. The thick
binder approach rarely accomplishes this goal.

There is a way to condense, compress and express the real intent of a strategy in a way that
allows everyone in the organization to understand it and to see how it affects them personally.

The One Page Plan is not a simplistic exercise. Driving the description of the vision, mission,
objectives, strategies and action plans of a complex Diversity Management Initiative down to
one page can be a difficult process, but one that significantly improves the probability of success.
Too many strategic and performance improvement initiatives fail because the objectives are
unclear, poorly communicated, lack accountability and are hard to track, mostly because they
“hide” inside a lengthy and opaque plan.

Office of Diversity Review
Effective implementation of strategy requires a thorough review and understanding of existing
systems and procedures (a current state assessment). We conduct an appropriate scale and scope
audit (cause and effect and human capital profile) to assess the efficacy of existing systems and
procedures to implement the plans you are creating. During the planning process and as part of
our summary report, we will identify where your agency mechanisms, policies and structures
would improve the effectiveness of the Diversity Management Initiative.

Executive Coaching
The Diversity Coach coaching service provides an experienced, skilled coach to work with the
key players in an organization to identify areas of needed work and to help them “live” the
principles they espouse. The Diversity Coach will guide individuals and teams toward wisdom
in the effective application of the principles of management. We define coaching as the process
of “reminding people of what they already know they should be doing”. Therefore, this service
affirms that the executive or manager, or other key players, have been educated about the
principles of leadership and management and that they have been exposed to the application
skills necessary to make it work.

Demonstration Project
Most agencies have done a good job of installing five of the six focus areas for diversity work.
Those five are: social justice, bias/prejudice reduction, academic enrichment, representation and
inclusion, and AA/EEO. This service provides a way of demonstrating the efficacy of diversity
management as a strategy. The outcome is to promote the addition of diversity management (the
sixth area) to the toolkit of diversity practitioners.

Valuing Differences™ Workshop - 2 Days
This learning experience helps people understand what it means to be human. All humans have
bias. They all have prejudices. They all react to differences. And they have a head full of
stereotypes. If left unchecked, these stereotypes will cause people to make decisions that have
adverse impact.

Managing by the Numbers
Today’s workplace is afflicted by an “Epidemic of Under-Management.” We have become so
enamored with the concept of leadership that we have clearly under-recognized and under-
developed the “noble role” of managing people. And we are just beginning to appreciate the cost,
the value and the promise of ever-increasing human diversity. Managing by the Numbers is a
concept and a course of learning that addresses this issue.

Getting 100% From 100% of Your People 100% of the Time (DVD
Jim Rodgers believes that a manager's primary job is to get 100% from 100% of his/her people,
100% of the time, and that a leader's job is to create an environment where this is happening.
Topics to be discussed include:
   - The importance of people in organizations.
   - The link between people, diversity, and performance.
   - Principles and tools to achieve the 100% Imperative

Help Me Help You: Learning to Ask, not Tell
The Jerry McGuire Approach to Management (DVD)
Examines the seven (7) principles for Managing Differently. These principles are designed to
help you get 100% from 100% of your people 100% of the time. In this video, Jim Rodgers uses
scenes from the popular movie Jerry McGuire to illustrate the importance of asking employees
how they want to be treated. Jim also explores the value of preferential treatment and offers
examples of the freedom that comes with allowing employees to participate in solving their own
problems. Getting 100% (commitment and contribution) only comes when managers ask rather
than tell.

Managing Differently™: Getting 100% from 100% of Your People 100% of the Time
Managing Differently™ implies that effective people management is the essential key to
increasing performance for any organization. People are by nature diverse. This increases the
level of complexity in the workplace. However, getting 100% from 100% of people, 100% of the
time is not only achievable – it is fundamental to world class performance. See how in this
ground-breaking book!
