Following the change of ownership to QG Business Solutions Ltd,
Quality Guild the network of quality assessed businesses have this week
implemented their first steps of an expansion programme that will see the
service delivered across the North of England and Scotland.
In partnership with the Cheshire based business development company,
Business Venture, QG Business Solutions have launched the Quality
Guild service to cover Cheshire and Warrington. Brian Lightowler,
Managing Director, QG Business Solutions Ltd says “Quality Guild has
run successfully in Cumbria, Lancashire and Southern Scotland since
1994, following the change in ownership the time is now right to launch
the network into other counties across the North of England and
Mr Lightowler, formally Chief Executive, Business Link for Cumbria
was made redundant in the regionalisation of Business Link last year and
has spent the intervening months refreshing Quality Guild and ensuring it
is fit for the 21st Century. The Quality Guild service now offers a package
of business support to help businesses deal with the burden of red tape as
well as promoting member businesses to each other.
“On talking to our members and other businesses, they consistently
highlight the areas of health and safety legislation and employment law as
areas of confusion and worry, therefore we have refocused the (Quality
Guild) service by strengthening our legal helpline, now provided by
Burnetts Solicitors and providing Health and Safety Interactive Training
DVDs to help members comply with the enormous amount of red tape
thrust onto them” says Mr Lightowler.
Mr Lightowler continues “We are always on the lookout to expand our
Cumbrian membership so that we can help with their legislative
requirements and also promote local companies to each other”.
It is planned that the launch of Quality Guild in Cheshire will be the first
in a line of partnerships across the North of England and Scotland that
will strengthen the Quality Guild brand that already has strong
recognition in and around Cumbria. Mr Lightowler adds “Many
Cumbrians already believe that the Quality Guild service is national, we
put this down to the intensive TV and mass media marketing that was
carried out in the nineties when the service was first launched. Nowadays
because we have access to businesses via the internet we are able to be
much more selective in our target markets”.
Over 50 sectors of business now benefit from the services Quality Guild
provide, including haulage, legal and leisure, operating from
Skelmersdale in the South to Duns in the North and from Durham in the
East to Whitehaven in the West.
Given that Cumbria and the North West was the best performing region
in the UK for business growth last month there is growing optimism for
Cumbrian based businesses to perform well.
