4th International Symposium for Engineering Education, the
University of Sheffield, UK
CALL FOR PAPERS -- Abstract Submission Deadline -- 30th November 2011 --
extended to 6th January 2012
The University of Sheffield will host the 4th International Symposium of Engineering Education on
19th-20th July 2012.
We live in an exciting world, a world of flux where everything changes at an
increasingly rapid rate. However, the rapid rates of technological change
experienced can be overwhelming for the uninformed member of the public; a
public that not only expects the current standard of living achieved by
Western societies to become more widespread without adversely affecting
our environment, but a public that also expects these improvements to their
life styles and well being to continue ad infinitum; these ‘gifts of the engineer’
are welcome but they are taken for granted.
Education is a complex multifaceted activity and as such it must be approached in a holistic way as far as possible. For this reason, the aim
of this symposium, organised by our community of educators in the field of engineering, is to bring together both practitioners and
students to discuss the wider possible spectrum of experiences, practices and knowledge transfer, in order to drive to new heights the
continuous spiral of accumulated engineering educational improvement. These are some of the themes and issues ISEE2012 would like to
address, but the list is not exhaustive and the boundaries are flexible!
Symposium Topics include:
• Curriculum development, including accreditation and regulations
• Learning technologies
• Learning spaces
• Feedback and assessment
