        QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
        To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The
        requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

        The following is a list of qualifications for the position, any one of which may be waived by the Board in exercising its
        prerogative to determine qualifications.

        EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
        Masters Degree from an accredited institution with emphasis in supervision, administration, curriculum, or related field.
        Specialist degree, doctorate, or advanced graduate work in administration, supervision, or curriculum development
        desirable.
        Three years of successful administrative experience at the secondary level or equivalent administrative experience.
        Five years of successful teaching and/or counseling experience at the secondary level.

        CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
        Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain) with secondary level endorsement or special course work related
        to High School.
        Meet requirements for Michigan administrative certification.
        Meet criteria established by North Central Association for high school principals.

        ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
        Provide leadership vision and direction for staff and students
        Select, supervise, and evaluate all staff required for a high school program
        Improve the educational opportunities for all students including students with special needs.
        Evaluate the quality of teaching performance and to collaborate with teachers in improving their classroom performance.
        Understand current research and effective best practices to design, implement, and maintain a quality high school program.
Work with diverse ethnic and socio-economic groups.
Define, develop and maintain high standards of instructional excellence in specific areas as follows: curriculum,
instructional methods, instructional supervision and coaching, student assessment, school improvement and planning.
Define and develop organizational issues such as: leadership, development of school culture, student and parent
engagement, staff management, community relations, legal issues and governance.
Create a welcoming environment for student, staff and families
Supervise and support technology integration.
Foster community relationships and partnerships that support student achievement
Implement and support the District’s operational goals as articulated by the Superintendent
Provide a positive and safe school environment that is conducive to teaching and learning
Supervise and support all building staff personnel
Provide general supervision to students (including extra-curricular activities)
Provide leadership and professional development to building staff
Prepare and monitor school budgets
Maintain positive relations with parents, parent, groups and school volunteers,
Implement policy and procedure for the Board of Education State and/or Federal levels at the building level.
Other duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Communicate effectively and present information in oral and written form.

REASONING ABILITY:
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Interpret an extensive variety of statistical information and data related to student achievement.
Understand the needs of and relate to high school students and possess effective and innovative ideas for working with
them.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform

perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and
talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average
person While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of
books and AV/VCR carts. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the
ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with
the public and other staff.
