Meeting called to order at 6:40 PM by Chair Jerry Armer.
Motion to accept minutes of January 25, 2007 meeting made by Anthony Pugliese and seconded
by Pauline Blake. Motion passed unanimously.
Motion to accept minutes of February 22, 2007 meeting made by Madelaine Murphy and seconded
by Roger Rigolli. Motion passed unanimously.
Discussion of variance requested for 25 Carroll Street.
Questions centered on proposed “Live/Work” nature of the units. Committee members asked
specific questions related to the five findings. The owner and attorney responded.
Motion to approve made by Joe Porcelli and seconded by Tom Miskel. Motion passed. Yes – 13,
No- 0, Abstentions – 2.
Discussion of variance requested for 300, 302, and 304 Columbia Street.
Committee members requested that architect Hernan Galvis explain the drawings and elevations of
the three proposed townhouses. Concern was expressed about the radical nature of the architecture
of the proposed structures not being consistent with the character of the surrounding buildings.
Motion to reject proposal based upon the non-contextual nature of the design made by Pauline
Blake and seconded by Celia Cacace. Motion passed. Yes – 11, No – 1, Abstentions – 3.
Review of 586 11th Street, a Certificate of Appropriateness.
Kelly Armendariz presented plans for a single family townhouse to add a rooftop extension.
Committee members questioned the extreme modern design proposed for the rear façade.
Comments included “out of context” and “inappropriate for a landmark neighborhood”.
Motion to disapprove based on the openings in the rear are not in character with the Park Slope
Historic District and the immediately adjacent properties. A more contextual design would be
more acceptable. The rear balcony, balcony in the front and roof top addition are also found to be
objectionable. Motion made by Michael Ingui and seconded by Pauline Blake. Motion passed.

Presentation of a Certificate of a Certificate of Appropriateness application for 491 Henry
Architect Michael Ingui presented the proposed alternatives to the front and rear yard, rear porches
and cellar stairs. Committee members were impressed with the extensive restoration/adaptation.
It was considered an improvement to the Cobble Hill Historic District.
Motion to accept proposal as submitted made by Lou Sones and seconded by Madelaine Murphy.
Motion passed. Yes – 13, No – 0, Abstentions – 2.
Presentation and review of a Certificate of Appropriateness application to add a service
entrance to 130 Atlantic Avenue.
Motion to approve as presented made by Joe Porcelli and seconded by Bette Stoltz. Motion
passed. Yes – 14, No – 0, Abstentions – 1.
Presentation for a renewal of a sidewalk café application by Zaytoons Corp. at 283 Smith
Application was tabled because applicant was not present.
Motion to adjourn made by Connie Molinari and seconded by Roger Rigolli. Motion passed
