             32nd Open National Knockdown Tournament – 6th October
This year’s National Knockdown Tournament will be held on Saturday, 6th October at Crystal Palace National
Sports Centre. Tickets will be on sale soon and these will be available through the BKK Credit Card Hotlines - either
Linda Keaveney 01245 256891 or Maria Da Costa 01708 743789. Entry forms have been sent out separately and
we attach further copies and these will also be available to download from the BKK web site. The BKK Magazine will
also be available on the day – if dojos require extra copies for their club – could you please let me know numbers as soon
as possible.

           9th September – England Squad Training Juniors and Cadets
Sensei Andrew Turner will be holding a squad training session on Sunday 9th September from 11am till 2pm
Tonbridge Dojo, The Angel Centre, Angel Lane, Tonbridge, Kent TN9 1SF. Cost of the course is £4.00, please
bring up to date license together with shin pads and hand mits. No pads no fighting. For further information please

All juniors and cadets please note: At this squad session and the next two squad sessions I will be looking
at potential fighters and selecting the team for the forth coming Severn Challenge in October. I will also be
looking at potential fighters for the Junior / Cadet World Championships next year in Germany. This year
Severn Challenge is going to be very exciting because we have more European countries involved. England,
Wales, Ireland, Switzerland, Holland and Belgium will all be taking part. There will be a Junior team of
nine fighters and five cadets. These squad sessions are open to all juniors and cadets new and old members.
If you train hard and fight well you will get a chance. So try and attend all sessions no matter where they
are or when they are. Commitment is the key!

             9th and 29th September - BKK Knockdown Squad Training
Shihan David Pickthall will be holding a Knockdown Course/Squad session on Sunday 9th September (from
11am to 2pm) and Saturday 29th September (from 3pm to 6pm) at Crawley Dojo - Visit www.multimap.com
and enter postcode “RH10 5HP”. The squad training will be for preparation for the National Tournament. Fee:

                                      Knockdown Referees Course
Shihan Alex Kerrigan (6th Dan) will be holding a Knockdown Referees course on 30th September, 11am to 3pm
Course Fee: £5.00, Exam: £5.00, Practical Assessment: £5.00 – these courses are for everyone wishing to improve
their existing qualification, and also qualified referees refreshing their knowledge – Shihan Alex would like to point out
that any official who has not officiated at a tournament over the last two years must attend a refresher course to be able to
be a judge or referee. Venue: Milton Keynes Dojo, Warwick Road Activities Centre, Porchester Close, (Off

                                 Black Belt Grading – 25th November
 The date for the next National Grading will be 25th November 2007 at Crawley Dojo (Visit www.multimap.com and
 enter postcode “RH10 5HP” – for location and directions). Please send your completed grading forms to Hanshi at
 least two weeks before the grading (published recently in revised format and available to download from the BKK Web
 Site – together with stamped addressed envelope as soon as possible). Further details and information from Hanshi tel:
 020 8946 0673 or e-mail: hanshi@the-ifk.co.uk. Could all candidates please ensure they leave plenty of time for
 travelling to Crawley dojo. Please ensure that all forms for National Grading are legible and correctly completed as
 some forms are being sent to Hanshi wrongly filled out.


                                                 Grading Results
 Congratulations to the three new Sensei’s promoted at the National Grading held at Summer camp: Moss Ageli, Chris
 Davies and Darren Stringer. Of the eight karateka attempting 2nd dan four were successful: Emma Markwell, Nina
 Burchett, Stephen Davies and Lee Bloom. Those taking 1st dan all but one were successful: Craig Jenkins,
 Jonathan Siddall, Leigh Kiss, Dom Pegg, Alan Shnawa, Peter Evans, Daniel Fryer, Graham Cardona and
 Jonathan Layton.

                                   Instructors Indemnity Insurance
 Club operators and dojo instructors are reminded that they should ensure their Instructors Indemnity Insurance is up
 to date and that they retain each year’s certificate in case this may be required at a future date. It is each instructor’s
 responsibility to ensure that there is no lapse in insurance cover – a reminder will be sent to all instructors prior to
 their renewal date.

                                          Dan Grade Qualifications
 All instructors are advised to check with the current grading syllabus as to what the specific requirements are for people
 attempting Dan gradings - specifically qualifications relating to judging. In addition, grading forms should be received
 by Hanshi no later than ten days prior to the grading.
