Subject: [Announce] The ASES India Summit
In keeping with the tradition of reaching out globally to fortify IIT-M’s underpinnings of
entrepreneurship, IITM will be hosting the ASES India Summit next week.
This will be the very first time an Indian University is hosting the summit. The Asia-Pacific
Student Entrepreneurship Society (ASES) is an international student with chapters in 15
countries in the Asia-Pacific region. It is an outfit founded around entrepreneurship, business and
ASES seeks to foster a worldwide entrepreneurship community by educating and networking
future leaders on entrepreneurship, global business and technology. Beyond being an
establishment that is based on the concerns of entrepreneurship, it is built around those interests,
to forge lasting relationships that arise out of this venture. The objective being more than merely
training upcoming entrepreneurs, ASES seeks to nurture relationships between people with
similar interests and cultivate a society that transcends regional and cultural barriers.
The highlights of the Summit include:
Monday, 23rd August - 10:00 am onwards - Lecture by Paul Basil,
CEO of Villgro.
Monday, 23rd August - 3:00 pm pnwards - Social Panel - This panel will
include Vineet Rai, co-founder of Aavishkaar, P Mukundan, MD of Servals
Automation Pvt Ltd, Prema Gopalan, founder of SPARC (Society for the
Promotion of Area Resource Centers)
Tuesday, 24th August - 9:00 am to 03:00 noon - Visit to the state-of-
the-art Renault Nissan automobile manufacturing facility
including a lecture by Mr Akira Sakurai -MD & CEO, RNAIPL and a
presentation by the Plant-Head of Operations.
Wednesday, 25th August - 3:00 pm - Lecture by Rohan Shravan, the
maker of the Adam tablet and unveiling of the Adam tablet.
Tuesday, 24th August - Innovation Panel Discussion - Prof. Ashok
Jhunjhunwala, IIT Madras will moderate the discussion between Kunal
Upadhyay, Head, CIIE, IIM A, Sandhya Sekhar, CEO of IIT Madras
Research Park and Sudeep Jain, MSME.
Thursday, 26th August - Clean Tech Panel Discussion - Mr. Manoj
Gupta, Senior Partner at Nexus Venture Partners, alumni of IIT B and IIM
A will moderate a session between Mr. Ratnesh Yadav, Co-founder and
COO of Husk Power Systems, S Ragupathy, Sr. Director, CII Green
Building Centre and Prof. Ajit Kumar Kolar, Professor, IIT Madras.
Friday, 27th August - Infosys Campus Visit - Visit to the Infosys
Global HQs including a lecture by Infosys top management.
We also have video conferences by Mr Vinod Dham, famously known
as the "father of the pentium processor" (at 9m on Wednesday,
25th August 2010 at the IC&SR Main Auditorium) which now runs more
than 85% of world's desktop PCs and another video conference by Prof
Aneel Karnani, Professor of Strategy at the Stephen M. Ross
school of Business, University of Michigan. Dr Karnani is famous
for his contrarian views on the BoP model suggested by the late Dr C.K.
Prahlad. His session is scheduled at 9m on Thursday, 26th August, 2010.
