							                  AMPTHILL COMMUNITY SAFETY GROUP

        Minutes: ACSG meeting held at Waitrose Meeting Room 10th August 2010
Present: John Plummer; June Hutley; Tim Norman; Peter Downing; Bob Barton.
Apologies: Chris Yates; Rosemary Parks; Lloyd Hynes; John Seamarks; SNT Ampthill.
Minutes of 29th June meeting were approved.

Matters arising

Additional dog waste bins and litter bins. Response awaited from David York via Dave
Rollings regarding Dog Litter Bin criteria around Ampthill Town Centre.            Action DR
Proposed Yellow Line waiting restrictions. No response yet from Central Beds to e-mails
forwarded to Dave Rollings suggesting that yellow lines should also be included at the
junction of Park Hill and Woburn Street.
ACSG paper on 20 mph speed limit in Ampthill Town Centre. Councillor McVicar has
responded to the ACSG letter. After discussion it was felt that further correspondence will be
necessary to clarify some points that Councillor McVicar had raised.               Action JP
Exit from Woburn St onto Ampthill By-Pass (A507). Awaiting update. Action D Bowie
Lack of facilities for young peoples’ activities in Ampthill. ACSG members who attended
the public meeting held in Parkside Hall on 12th July reported that there was wide public
support from the attendees for a multi purpose community centre.
Development on land off Swaffield Close. It is understood that a planning application for
36 dwellings may be considered by Central Beds Development Committee in mid September.
ACSG Priorities. 1. Speeding Traffic (Pedestrian Safety and Shared Space);
2. Neighbourhood Policing; 3. Disorderly Conduct.
Funding for ACSG. Tim Norman confirmed that £460 had been deposited in the banking
facility shared with REVAMP in the separate No2 account.
ACSG Logo and Leaflet. Due to other priorities little progress had been made since the June
meeting. It was agreed that John Plummer would write to Joy Craven and Dave Rollings to
seek permission to use the Central Beds logo on the proposed leaflet and enquire if Central
Beds Media Office could assist in any way.                                         Action JP

Shared Space Status Report. It is understood from The Town Clerk’s Notes attached to the
Ampthill Town Council Agenda for the 21st July meeting that the date of Tuesday 21st
September has been set for the visit of Shared Space expert Ben Hamilton-Baillee. The ACSG
is most grateful to the Town Council for funding the visit.
Aggressive Dog behaviour in Ampthill Park. There have been no recent reports to ACSG.
John Plummer has spoken with Park Development Manager Gary Quilter who has welcomed
support from ACSG and also Street Watch patrols.
Training Opportunities for ACSG members. John Plummer will write to Dave Rollings to
ask if there is a published list of training courses suitable for Safety Group personnel. He will
also enquire what training has been requested or given to other Safety Groups.        Action JP
Street Watch. A response is awaited from Waitrose regarding their involvement and support
for Street Watch.                                                                     Action JP
Anti Social Behaviour Houghton House area. Police to hold a problem solving meeting
with residents of Houghton Park Cottages on 28th August. JP to attend.                Action JP
CSG Surgery. One Saturday possibly Oct/Nov in Waitrose with Police, Fire & Rescue
Service and Central Beds. Exploratory work required.                                  Action JP

Date of next meeting: Tuesday 28th September 2010 in WAITROSE meeting room at 7pm

Date of next Safety Forum: Tuesday 12th October 2010 in Clophill Village Hall at 7pm.
