recently combined Community & Events function, is a key area for investment to

community and festival volunteering events) ensuring that all activities meet agreed
income and expenditure targets and maximise potential for added value across

Functional Leadership of Events Team
To lead the events team to meet agreed income and expenditure targets,
supporting Events Officers to deliver against delegated targets.
Ensure all events comply with legal requirements, health and safety
regulations and the Institute of Fundraising codes of practice and provide
advice as appropriate.
Deputise as appropriate for the Community & Events Team Leader and
undertake any other reasonable tasks required.

Income Generation & Supporter Engagement
Lead the team to provide a sector-leading supporter experience to event
Work with colleagues within the Supporter Development and Major
Partnerships Departments to optimise opportunities to widen and deepen
supporters’ engagement with WaterAid.
Identify and secure opportunities to become the selected charity for third party
Management & Planning
Directly line manage two Events Executives, supporting them to deliver their
agreed objectives to deliver the operational plan.
Effectively manage the Events fundraising operational budget. Monitor,
evaluate and report against plans.
Lead the strategic development of plans and budgets for new events activity
and evaluation of our current portfolio.
Work with the Community & Events Team Leader to develop and implement
the future strategic direction for events at WaterAid.
Internal & External relationships
Build and develop internal and external strategic relationships to deliver the
operational events activity and help plan for the future to optimise impact and
Maintain and improve existing relationships with other departments to improve
the performance of events team activity and to ensure coordination.
Work with the media team to maximise PR and celebrity engagement for all

Proven experience of events management and growing events activity.
Experience of managing mass participation events with 1,000+ participants.
Sound knowledge of risk management practices.
Experience of leading, managing and motivating a team and providing meaningful
feedback on their performance.
Educated to degree level or significant equivalent work experience.
Experience of managing information on databases (ideally Raisers Edge).
Ability to recognise and develop new fundraising opportunities and experience of
developing events plans and strategy.
Experience of managing delivery against annual plans and budgets and ability to
monitor and evaluate events activity and report on financial performance.
Excellent communication skills.
Willingness to work some unsociable hours when required (evenings and

Abbreviated Terms & Conditions
Salary c. £36,000 per annum
Location WaterAid, 47 - 49 Durham Street, Vauxhall, London, SE11 5JD.
Working Hours Full time (minimum 35 hours per week). Core office hours are
between 10.00am and 4.00pm
Annual Leave 25 days per year. This increases to 27 after four years’ service.
Plus UK public holidays.
Contract Period The post is offered on a permanent contract basis.
Probation The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six
month probationary period
