management’s rights regarding use of temporary employees.
• Facilitated Company and Union Maintenance and Operation Committees. Committees were effective
in reducing grievances and resolving outstanding issues.
• Recruited engineering candidates for $2 billion project for facility upgrades.

Manager, Labor Relations - NIPSCO (2000 to 2002)
Directed a 10 member staff involved in the administration and interpretation of USW Collective Bargaining
Agreements. Provided strategic direction and advice to senior and division management on all aspects of
labor strategy, union relations, communications, and training of management team.
• Developed negotiation strategy for collective bargaining and served as chief spokesperson.
Negotiated a 5-year agreement that led to savings of over $2 million dollars in work rules and benefits.
• Oversaw grievance arbitration consisting of 200 separate grievances covering 8 main issues.
Arbitration was ruled 100% in favor of the company. The decision prevented a potential back pay
liability of $5 million, saved an additional $2 million annually in overtime pay, and expanded work rules
allowing for improved customer service.
• Negotiated strategic outsourcing agreement that established a data management center and eliminated
$500 million in backlogged work orders.
