                                                                         CMAA Scholarship Application

About CMAA South Atlantic Chapter (SAC) Scholarships:
The Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) South Atlantic Chapter, awards a
limited number of scholarships to qualified students to help them defray the costs of pursuing a
degree in Construction Management or a related-degree program. The amounts of the scholarships
vary from year to year, but typically range in amounts of $1,000-$3,000.

The CMAA SAC works with the CMAA Foundation to establish the scholarship program.
However, the SAC Scholarship Program is separate and different than the CMAA Foundation
Scholarship Program. The SAC Scholarship application forms and selection criteria may be
different than those maintained by the CMAA Foundation. In such a case, if a student completes a
chapter application that is different from the CMAA Foundation application, and wishes to also be
considered for award of a scholarship from the CMAA Foundation, the student must also complete
the CMAA Foundation application.

Students are encouraged to compete in both arenas—but remember—to be considered for the CMAA Foundation
scholarship, you must complete and submit the CMAA Foundation scholarship application.

For Students who want to compete for the Foundation scholarships in addition to the SAC
scholarship, may do so in one of two ways:
   1. Be selected as the top-rated undergraduate or graduate-level scholarship applicant by a
CMAA chapter; and have completed a CMAA Foundation scholarship application. In this
case, your application will automatically be sent to the CMAA Foundation for consideration as
        a national scholarship recipient; or
    2. If you live in an area not served by a CMAA chapter, you may complete and submit a CMAA
Foundation scholarship application in accordance with the instructions contained in the
application package, available online at http://cmaanet.org/cmaa-foundation-scholarships.

Eligibility Criteria
   1. Must have completed a minimum of one-full academic year of studies, and must have a
minimum of one-full academic year remaining prior to completing the degree being pursued.
    2. Must be enrolled in construction management degree program, or other CM-related degree
program and show a strong interest in a career in CM, as demonstrated by a response to the
essay question in the application package.
    3. Must complete, in full, the scholarship application. Please note the CMAA-SAC scholarship
application is identical to the CMAA Foundation application unless there is an attached
       addendum.
    4. The CMAA-SAC application is available online at www.cmaasac.org
    5. Student membership in CMAA-SAC is recommended but not required.
    6. The CMAA Foundation application is available online at http://cmaanet.org/cmaa-foundation-
scholarships. (dates are different than those of CMAA-SAC)

NOTE: Incomplete applications will not be considered.

CMAA SAC Scholarship Application and Award Process
  1. Fill out the CMAA SAC scholarship application completely and submit it to the chapter no later
than the last day of April May 15, 2010. If you have won at the SAC level, your completed
application will automatically be forwarded to the CMAA Foundation for consideration. Each
chapter may submit one undergrad and one graduate-level winner for consideration at the
     National level.
    2. The CMAA-SAC scholarship selection committee will review all complete applications, and
submit its recommendations to the CMAA-SAC Board of Directors for approval. Selected
winners will typically be notified by mid-May.
    3. Scholarship checks will be mailed directly to the student’s college/university upon the student’s
acceptance of the scholarship and CMAA’s verification of the student’s enrollment status. If the
student has already paid his/her charges to the college/university and can provide proof thereof
in the form of a statement from the school, CMAA will provide the check directly to the
       student.
    4. While not mandatory, the scholarship winners will be strongly encouraged to attend the
CMAA-SAC Project Achievement Awards Banquet, which is held in June of each year in
Atlanta, GA. Students will be honored at the annual awards banquet and will be invited to fully
       participate in the event’s activities.
