ALABAMA FORAGE CONFERENCE- 2007
The Alabama Forage Conference, which has been held every other year
since 1997, has been a huge success, with attendance averaging near 300
people. The 2007 conference promises to be the best yet, with top
scientists and experts from five states speaking on important topics of
much practical importance to livestock producers.
This event, which is open to interested livestock producers from
throughout Alabama as well as from other states, will be held at the
Pike County Cattlemen’s Association building, which is just east of
Troy, Alabama on highway 231, on Thursday, December 13, 2007. In
addition to the excellent program, exhibitors will be on hand to provide
information regarding useful commercial products. Registration
information will be provided on the web site www.alabamaforages.com
as the conference date nears.

Dr. Carl Hoveland- Dr. Carl Hoveland served on the faculty of both Auburn University
and the University of Georgia and has an international reputation as a forage researcher.
He is one of the authors of the book Southern Forages.
R.L. Dalrymple- Widely recognized as one of the premier experts on grazing
management, Mr. Dalrymple is now a consultant and rancher, and is in demand as a
speaker at producer conferences across the nation.
Dr. Monte Rouquette- Texas A & M University has numerous productive faculty
members, and Dr. Monte Rouquette is one of the best. No one has more Deep South
forage/livestock research experience.
Dr. John Stuedemann- Having spent a career as a USDA research animal scientist, and
now having his own purebred beef herd near Watkinsville, Georgia, Dr. Stuedemann has
both scientific knowledge and practical experience.
Dr. Ronnie Silcox- Dr. Silcox has been an Extension Animal Scientist at the University
of Georgia for many years. Though he has much agricultural knowledge, his presentation
at this conference will be of an entertaining nature.
Dr. David Wright- In thirty years as a University of Florida faculty member, Dr. Wright
has made countless contributions to Southern agriculture. Simply put, he has the well
deserved reputation of helping producers increase profit.
Kent Kammermeyer- Few people have as much knowledge of wildlife behavior or as
much wildlife food plot experience. He has written countless articles on wildlife topics
and is senior author of the widely acclaimed book Quality Food Plots.
Dr. Carroll Johnson- Dr. Johnson, a weed scientist by training, has much experience
with agricultural production and with wildlife food plots. He is also an author of the
book Quality Food Plots.
Mike Davis- Having worked on livestock farms, in industry, and extension, Mr. Davis
has much experience. Producers from all around Alabama and elsewhere know him and
have benefited from his practical advice.
