PRIME CATTLE (26) - Auctioneer: Roger Waters
Mostly native bred cattle on offer but Ronnie Kemp’s cattle are still the cream of the crop,
his medium weight Limousin cross heifer to 200p and steer to 190p. Leading natives -
WE & S Vine’s Sussex cross steer 190p, Gregory & Barnard’s Aberdeen Angus cross
steer 180p, T Carr’s Aberdeen Angus cross steer 170p.
COWS & OVERAGE BEEF (33) Auctioneer: Rogers Waters
Like the prime cattle native breeds dominate the entry but Robert & Chris Scott’s
Continentals a big Limousin cross and a big Simmental cross hit the headlines both at
140p and gross £1,155. SA Gulzar has Sussex to 138p and A Nicholson likewise to
132p. Lean meat Friesians to 121p and plainer Holsteins to 95.5p. Heavyweight
Hereford bulls to £1,140.
Overage Beef - Once again trade as sharp as mustard - SA Gulzar’s Limousin cross
heifer to 164.5p, Sussex steer to 158p and RH Daltry’s Hereford x Holstein to 156p.
Overage - Underage or just getting on in years still very much wanted at Hailsham

More beef cross calves forward and the very good competition continues. Younger
calves - Limousin cross bulls £242, Friesian bulls £79, Simmental cross heifers £175,
small British Blue heifers £150, Norwegian Red bulls £75, £65, £58, etc., reared British
Blue steers, 14/16 weeks £319 and heifers £302 and reared Friesians £200.
Next week 4 reared Aberdeen Angus cross heifers and 2 British Blue steer and
heifer, 16/24 weeks old
PIGS (18) Auctioneer: Roger Waters
Little excitement this week. Duroc cross 79 kilo entire cutters 110p, others 100p per
kilo. Medium weight sows £90 and gilts £82. Saddleback weaners £18 per head.
Entered next week - 20 British Lop weaner pigs.
SHEEP (965) - Auctioneer: Nick Young
LAMBS (411) Overall average 163p per kilo.
A shade dearer (and so is the national), however, in the finished section it is meated
lambs that are required. Unmeated lambs are best sold in the store section or retained
on the farm for further finishing. Those who know the lambs they have are meat were
well rewarded in particular A Ainslie, G Tobitt, N & P Clouting, Paul Collinson, etc.
