FSU HOMECOMING POW WOW 2011
Dear Fellow Seminoles,
Thank you for your interest in the Pow Wow Committee for Homecoming 2011! The Homecoming
Executive Council for 2011 is extremely excited to begin the planning process for the fall semester.
This year’s Pow Wow is sure to be bigger and better than before, and as a member of the committee you
will have the opportunity to take an active role in the planning and execution of one of Florida State’s
greatest traditions! As usual, Pow Wow will be taking place the Friday night before the big Homecoming
football game on Friday, November 18 .
I am extremely excited that you have taken the time to become a part of one of the biggest events that
The Florida State University hosts. To become involved with Pow Wow 2011 please fill out this
application and specify which committee and/or committee chair position you are interested in. We have 6
Pow Wow subcommittees:
Programming --Helps build the content of the Pow Wow show schedule with Production. Recruits and
coordinates with Athletics and student performers and participants appearing in the show.
Works with Pow Wow Director and Assistant Director to schedule and facilitate
rehearsals with all performing groups.
PR & Marketing --Creates the PR & Marketing strategy including print, radio, social media, internet, and
promotional material. Monitors ticket counts, and adjusts strategies accordingly. Actively
engages student groups and coordinates with overall Homecoming PR & Marketing
Sponsorship --Coordinates with overall Homecoming sponsorship efforts to build relationships with
businesses around the Tallahassee area. Responsible for drawing up proposal letters
and serve as a liaison between businesses in order to market funds for Pow Wow.
Hospitality --Works with Pow Wow Operations to determine hospitality and catering needs for
backstage during load-in and day of show. Oversees all catering headcounts and meal
tickets. Reviews artist’s contract to ensure all hospitality rider requirements are met.
Production --Works with Programming and Operations to plan Pow Wow video content and show
schedule, including incorporating the overall Homecoming theme into the show. Works
with Pow Wow Director and Assistant Director to determine audio/visual and staging
plans in conjunction with Production Support Group, Seminole Productions, and Civic
Operations --Oversees all overall Pow Wow operations. Creates event load-in and day of show
schedules, determines backstage flow of traffic and layout, works with all Pow Wow
committees to ensure all preparations are made and day of show needs are met, and is
responsible for coordinating backstage pass design and distribution.

Interviews will be held on Friday, April 8th from 12:30-5:30pm in the Student Activities Conference
room on the 3rd floor of the Activities Building in the Oglesby Union.
Please turn your application in to the Student Activities Center Front Desk, Attn: Pow Wow
(The SAC front desk is located in the union – take the elevator across from the ticket/coupon office to
the 3rd floor and make an immediate left, and the desk will be on your left-hand side)
