confront his own position as a man.

THE MOVIE

"The Cricket" by Stefano Lorenzi concentrates in 13 minutes some of the most actual aspects of our controversial
society: dignity of labour, freedom of movement, relationship with Nature, demands of the soul.

Simple and basic needs, that are losing importance in today’s society, apparently well organized and globalized.

The complexity of our life imposes choices and forces dependences - economic, technological, political -
preventing ourselves to be in harmony with our society. The call to our own essence can come anyhow suddenly
and unexpected.

This short film run as a transcendent ceremony of purification, turning an obsessive trill into the reassuring and
deep voice of a Cricket.
The spectator finds himself catapulted from the chaotic uproar of an airport in an atmosphere that remind old
fairytales, at the same time terrible and reassuring.

The eye of Stefano Lorenzi aim to analyze body language that reflect deep emotions. The characterization of the
personages that is strongly delineated also thanks to the expressive force of the protagonist Birol Unel, the
smooth acting of Edoardo Gabriellini and to the photography of the 2010 Prize of Donatello Daniel Ciprì.

The touching Blues music accompanying the images, amplify a strong feeling on between the anguish and the
calm: The voice of the spirit does not need any word.

So we will not get tired to repeat togheter with Tiziano Terzani, that:

“Looking after a cricket it means giving yourself the great, old, sophisticated joy of feeling, right in the middle
of the Winter, the amazing, warm voice of the Spring, while everything around is cold”.
