Mount Clemens Upcoming Cash Mob Takes a Family Mob Twist

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – Downtown Mount Clemens is hosting a unique Cash Mob on
Saturday May 5th. The whole family is invited to come and support ABC Magic Shop.

Cash Mobs tend to be geared toward adults while this Cash Mob is focusing on the whole
family supporting a small local business. Like most businesses during the economic downtown,
ABC Magic has been impacted by a lot fewer customers with significantly less money to spend.

ABC Magic Shop is one of the few remaining bricks and mortar magic shops remaining. They
are incredibly committed to supporting Mount Clemens, and through their party rentals and
entertainers, provide employment to over 25 employees.

This Cash Mob will help ABC Magic Store to weather the quiet winter months while gaining
exposure for all of the great entertainment opportunities they have available for summer.

ABC Magic Shop has magic tricks and gag gifts appropriate for all ages. They offer a full line of
props for professional and amateur magicians along with a wide array of scientific learning toys.

Through their ABC Entertainment subsidiary, they offer a wide range of party planning
entertainment options available for most anyone’s budget.

Need children’s cartoon entertainers, moonwalks and slides, magicians and clowns? They’ve
got it. Need popcorn machine, ice cream cart, snow cone maker? They’ve got it. Need a
special holiday character? They’ve got that too.

Mount Clemens’ third Cash Mob will be on Saturday May 5th from 1-4 PM. The After Mob get-
together will be held at Your Mother’s Food & Spirits.

On Saturday March 3rd, Tis County was the focus of Mount Clemens first Cash Mob. The store
saw an over 600% increase in transactions from the previous weekend, over doubling of the
recommended purchase of $10 in goods, and over 135 visitors.
The first Cash Mobs sprung up in Buffalo and Cleveland around the same time last fall. The
organizer’s intent was to provide a financial and morale boost to a local business owner while
giving the Mobbers the opportunity to meet new people during the events.

Rapid growth of this activist approach to supporting local business is evidenced by the fact that
over 170 Cash Mobs were held on National Cash Mob Day – March 24th.

Think of the Cash Mob as a "shop local" flash mob created to spur local economic stimulus!

Each Cash Mob participant is asked to spend ten dollars. The ten dollars demonstrates
personal commitment and effort to support a local independent retailer while having fun doing
it as a part of a larger group effort.

Once the Mobbers have finished their shopping, they are encouraged to walk around the
corner to meet up with fellow Mobbers at Your Mother’s. A second and equally important
component of the Cash Mob is for the attendees to meet new people.

Your Mother’s Food & Spirits is located at 61 N. Walnut St. Their telephone number is
586.468.4444. Well known for their fresh home cooking, most everything they offer is made
from scratch, not from a box!

For more information regarding the Mount Clemens Cash Mob or any other activities, please
call Micki Weiss, Marketing and Events Coordinator at (586) 469-4168.
