IMPORTANT MBTA RIDE Program Fare Changes
Effective July 1, 2012, the one-way ADA fare for each registered passenger or
guest will be $4.00 when booked 1-14 days in advance.
Effective October 1, 2012, the one-way premium/non-ADA fare per passenger
or guest will be $5.00.
Premium/non ADA fare applies when the trip origin and/or destination is
greater than 3/4 miles from or outside of operating hours for MBTA bus or
subway, or for same-day trips. Please note premium/non-ADA fares will not
take effect until October 1, 2012. Subsequent information will be issued.
Beginning June 18, 2012, the RIDE reservationist will confirm the $4 fare when
you schedule a trip for July 1 or later. Please only call your RIDE contractor for
reservations; they are not equipped to answer MBTA fare policy questions.
Please maintain adequate funds in your RIDE account, especially if you use
subscription service. There is no minimum deposit. To add funds:

8PM or weekends/holidays 9AM – 5PM. Major credit/debit cards are
accepted. Have your RIDE ID# ready. Allow two business days to post.
Pay online at mbta.com under Fares and Passes/THE RIDE. Major
credit/debit cards are accepted. Allow two business days to post.
Mail a check or money order noting your RIDE ID# to: MBTA-THE RIDE
Fares, Ten Park Plaza Room 5000, Boston, MA 02116. Allow five business
days to post.
Visit our walk-in location at Back Bay Station** on the Orange Line/Commuter
Rail at 145 Dartmouth St., Boston. Business hours are weekdays 8:30AM –
5PM. We accept cash, checks, money orders and major credit/debit cards.
Have your RIDE ID# ready. Funds post within one hour.

**The walk-in location at Back Bay will move in July to the new ‘CharlieCard
Store’ location at Downtown Crossing station on the Orange/Red Line. The
accessible entrance is at 101 Arch Street, Boston. Please call MBTA
Customer Communications at 617-222-3200 (Voice) or 617-222-5145 (TTY) to
confirm the store’s location.
Effective immediately, portions of Billerica, Brockton, Stoughton, or Avon that
are within 3/4 miles of MBTA fixed-route bus during bus operating hours will
be considered part of the adjacent RIDE service area. Outside of bus
operating hours or over 3/4 miles from fixed-route bus is not part of THE RIDE
service area in these municipalities.
Periodically during the month of June, the Interactive Voice Recognition
system (IVR) and Web Scheduling of RIDE trips will not be available for a few
hours from late evening to early a.m. due to technology upgrades.
