On behalf of the governors and staff we are delighted to welcome new families and to renew acquaintances with
families who have older children in the school. We hope this will be the start of a long and fruitful partnership
and that your child will be successful and happy during their time with us.
Inevitably there is a certain amount of documentation associated with the offer of a place for your son/daughter
in Year 7 at Cox Green School, starting September 2012.
Please find enclosed:
School uniform order form
Letter regarding the cashless system for the cafeteria
Off-Site activity form (OA4) and consent for photography, video, voice and work to be used *NB. Each year
we are requesting that one off-site activity form is completed for each student for the whole academic year
for trips and visits. When trip/visits are planned, you will receive a letter giving you exact details. It does
mean that you will be responsible for updating details on a regular basis, especially any changes to medical
conditions and contact telephone numbers. There is also an electronic copy on the school website
(www.coxgreen.com) that can be downloaded and sent in. Please note regular after school activities such as
sporting fixtures will not necessarily generate a letter home to parents.

We aim to make the transfer between the primary school and Cox Green School as smooth as possible and invite
our new intake to join us for a visit to the school on Tuesday 3rd July. This will give students an opportunity to
meet their teaching group and some of the teachers, see their tutor bases and start to become familiar with the
layout and atmosphere of Cox Green School.
Unfortunately, we are not able to arrange transport on this day and students are requested to come in their
normal school uniform and to also bring a pair of trainers in a bag. Students should arrive no earlier at 8.45 am
ready for a 9.15 am start and collected at 3.00 pm from the Theatre.

*NB. On this day, our Creative Media Students will be taking photographs and videoing the year 6 children. These will
then be displayed on our website and also shown to the children who will be joining us in September 2013.
Staff and students will be available to greet students and direct them to the Theatre on arrival. There will
be a break at lunch time giving all students an opportunity to try our brilliant ‘Studio’ dining facilities. We
have installed a cashless system for the catering service at the school cafeteria and your child will be
registered on the system during their induction day and informed of how to use the system. A letter
detailing the instruction on how to login to the Squid website where you child’s account can be set up and
funds added will be sent to you shortly. Alternatively, they can bring in cash, most students spend between
£2 and £3.
On the evening of Tuesday 3rd July, we would like parents to join us at *6.00 pm or 7.00 pm (the time
you have been allocated will be in the letter sent to you on 16th May). There will be a short
meeting in the Theatre and then afterwards there will be an opportunity to meet members of our staff. We
would ideally like your son/daughter to accompany you to this event and during the parents' talk they will
be with a member of staff and will require a pen.
Items of uniform, specific to Cox Green, must be purchased from the school uniform shop, as we do not
sanction any other supplier. To assist in the purchasing of school uniform, we attach an order form. Please
return to the school by Thursday 31st May with a cheque made payable to Direct Clothing Company. The
section for the school tie should be left blank as this is ‘House colour’ specific. Your child will be allocated a
‘House’ by the time of uniform collection, so please include the price of this item in your payment.
You will be able to collect the uniform on the evening of Tuesday 3rd July between 6.00 pm and 8.00 pm.
Exchanges can also be made and the purchase of extra uniform if required. The school will also be open to
sell uniform on Tuesday 4th September between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm. During the term, the uniform shop
is open every Wednesday after school from 3.15 pm until 4.15 pm. All goods must be paid for at the time
of purchase. Please make cheques payable to Direct Clothing Company. Only cash or cheques are
accepted, no credit cards.
A number of parents have asked about the Cox Green School Fund. This supports some of the ‘extras’ that
our routine budget does not cover. I hope that each family will be able to help us with this annual
donation. We have organised two ways of giving:
Each family makes a donation to the School Fund by a cheque made payable to Cox Green School.
Parents have suggested that £15 per year would be appropriate.
Alternatively, a payment by Bankers Order can be set up.
Thank you all in advance.
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 3rd July and hope this will mark the beginning of many happy
and successful years association with Cox Green School for you and your child.
