Breast Cancer Action Nova Scotia is an organization of survivors and supporters that focuses on the concerns and
needs of those affected by breast cancer through support, education, networking and advocacy.
Job Title: Bookkeeper
Hours: 2 half days per week, 6 hours in total
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Minimum of five years of experience in the preparation of financial statements; management of accounts payable
and general bookkeeping;
Post secondary business training at University or Technical College;
Experience with Excel and other Windows Office Suite would be a benefit;
Advanced working knowledge of computer accounting software, specifically Simply Accounting;
Excellent communication skills; and
Proven skills in developing, implementing and monitoring financial systems, controls, policies and best practices
while ensuring compliance with a funding agency.
Performing the day-to-day tasks required, including bank deposits, payment of expenses, petty cash management,
event cash management, bank account management, GST/PST Filings, donation record keeping, and payroll;
Preparation of financial statements, and month end and year end reports;
Project Accounting; and
Providing the Board of Directors with regular budget updates and financial reports.
