I am writing to introduce myself to you as dental resident currently enrolled in the
General Practice Residency at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland. I am
looking for a position as an associate dentist in the Columbus area upon completion of
the program in July 2009.

In May 2008 I graduated from Case School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio with
honors. Clinically, I graduated as the highest producer in my class. Last year I had to
make the decision whether to work in a private practice or continue my education by
doing a general practice residency. I chose to do a general practice residency because I
wanted to build upon the foundation I received at Case and increase my knowledge and
experiences in the field of general dentistry. Having gone through six months of the
residency I can see that it has already enhanced my skills, ability to treatment plan, and
has increased my confidence.

I enjoy many aspects in the field of general dentistry. In particular I like the long-term
relationships a practitioner is able to form with patients, their families, and the staff. I
always look forward to learning new things and plan to get the most out of continuing
education. Thus far, I have found that I enjoy the “nuts and bolts” of dentistry such as
operative, crown and bridge, and endodontics. In my residency I am gaining more
experience with periodontal surgeries, implant placement and restoration, as well as
orthodontics.
