DAY ONE: Sunday, March 6

8.30 am       Workshop welcome and introductions of trainers and participants
              Logistical support, personnel introductions
              Overview of workshop: agenda, outputs and expected workshop learning
              outcomes
              Workshop norms and expectations

9.30 am       Session 1: Explorations into Gender

              Learning outcome: Participants become familiar with each other and their work,
              and are sensitized to where and how “gender” is a part of their professional
              career.

                             10.15 – 10.30 am       Coffee Break

10.30 am      Session 2: Making the case for integrating gender into agricultural research:
              Situating the livelihoods framework within research-for-development
              framework (Presentation of the theoretical frameworks for the workshop)

              Learning outcome: Participants will understand key terms and concepts central
              to gender analysis and their linkage to equitable livelihoods.

                                     12.30 – 1.30 pm Lunch

1.30 pm       Session 3: Making connections

              Learning outcome: Participants observe the connections between research,
              gender, and productivity

DAY TWO: Monday, March 7

8.30 am       Session 4: Gender analysis

              Learning outcome: Participants learn the elements of gender analysis: who does
              what, when, and where

1.30 pm       Session 5: Gender analysis application and tools

              Learning outcome: Participants learn use of the tools of gender analysis: when to
              apply them; how to apply them; who needs to be involved in applying them

3.30 pm       Session 6: Field trip assignments

              Learning outcome: Participants will learn how to apply gender analytical
              methods during the visits to project sites.

DAY THREE: Tuesday, March 8, International Women’s Day

8.00 am       Departure for field trips from hotels

3.00 pm       Expected return from field trips

DAY FOUR: Wednesday, March 9

8.30 am       Session 7: Plenary presentation of findings from gender analysis of field trip
              sites

              Learning outcome: Participants apply their gender analysis skills and critical
              awareness to observations made during the field trip.


9.00 am       Session 8: ICARDA’s Best Practices and Lessons Learned on Gender Integration


              Learning outcome: Participants will learn about ICARDA’s gender research
              projects/programs.

                              10.15 – 10.30 am          Coffee Break

10.30 am      Session 9: Applying gender analysis in sector case studies

              Learning outcome: Participants gain practical experience strategizing about and
              applying the tools of GA by working through case examples in small groups

                                 12.30 – 1.30 pm        Lunch

1.30 pm       Session 10: Building gender into research design and implementation
              Possible gender strategies, outputs, outcomes, and activities

              Learning outcome: Participants will be able to understand and utilize findings
              from gender analysis and how to integrate these into project or research design:
              impact on research questions, research activities, and research outcomes.

                             3.15-3.30 pm           Coffee break

3.30 pm       Session 11: Discussion of Action Plan task

              Learning outcome: Participants will learn how to develop their action plan for
              the next six months.

DAY FIVE: Thursday, March 10

8.30 am       Session 12: M&E: more specifics on gender indicators

              Learning outcome: Participants will be able measure the effective integration of
              gender analytical findings into project or research design and outputs.

9.30 am       Session 13: Coaching Clinic

              Learning outcome: Participants will develop their action plans for the next six
              months, both individual and country team

              Learning outcome: Participants will commit to integration of gender into their
              research and at the benchmark sites, both individually and as a team.
