Who Are We?

• Part of the Xstrata PLC group of companies

• Xstrata Coal is one of 6 core BUs within Xstrata PLC

• Xstrata Coal global headquarters in Sydney

• In QLD we have offices Brisbane and Mackay and manage:
   • Newlands Coal, Rolleston Coal, Oaky Creek Coal, Collinsville Coal
     and Abbot Point Bulk Coal (port facility)

•   Xstrata PLC IT Team
     •  Based in London
     •  Responsible for corporate IT governance world wide
     •  Management of key global IT contracts and support agreements
          •  Microsoft, Symantec, CheckPoint, Polycom, OBS and ISS
     •  Co-Ordination of global IT projects

          •  Operations Management Server and Symantec BindView

•   Local BU IT – Xstrata Coal
     •  IT Teams in Newcastle, Brisbane and Melrose (SA)
     •  Each team has it’s own IT Manager and engineers
     •  Manages it’s own IT budget, procurement and operations
     •  Responsible for the day to day running of the local operations
     •  Approx 1400 LAN users – 3 Systems Engineers and 2 IT Support staff

Dealing with Xstrata Coal Qld



•   Preferred supply agreements with selected vendors

•   Select vendors not on price alone but also on their service capability,
    particularly in remote areas

•   Standardise equipment as much as possible

•   Review vendors at 3 years.

•   We are a small team managing a large, diverse group
     • Look to establishing long term relationships with regional service
        providers who can add value to the business (NQBE/Blue IQ)
