Dear Parents/Carers, 7/7/09

IMPORTANT
We have been informed of our first suspected case of swine flu at Jesse Gray. The child (who is in Foundation)
has not been at school since Friday 3rd July, and their GP does not believe they need to be treated with tami-
flu. There is no need to be alarmed for the welfare of your child. At present the symptoms of swine flu are not
severe – much like a cold with a temperature, aches & sore throat. The evidence shows that healthy young people
recover quickly and fully from swine flu.

We have been in extensive discussions with the Local Authority and the Health Protection Agency and we are
acting in accordance to their clear guidance received.

If your child develops cold or flu like symptoms in the coming days please follow this advice :
1 Keep your child off school.
2 Telephone your GP – explain the symptoms and state that your child attends Jesse Gray Primary School
where there is a suspected case of swine flu.
3 Let school know that your child has these symptoms.
4 If you wish to speak to NHS Direct Flu line for specific advice call 0845 46 47

Please find attached an advice leaflet from the Health Protection Agency.

We will be continually reviewing the situation with the relevant authorities and will keep you fully informed over the
coming days via the website only. Please go to the swine flu page of our website www.jessegray.notts.sch.uk via
the school information leaf - where regular updates will be posted.

We are totally committed to do what is best for the safety and welfare of all our children.
Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely
