Can you please indicate the dimensions (i.e., size) of the Micro Air
Vehicle contemplated in the subject BAA?
--SIZE APPROX <5" X 3" X 15" FULLY ASSEMBLED. MAX DIA <24" (LARGEST
SINGLE LINEAR DIMENSION NOT TO EXCEED 24") WEIGHT <2.5 LBS. ITEM SHOULD
EASILY FIT INTO A PROTECTIVE CASE FOR TRANSPORT IN A BACKPACK, AND
SHOULD OCCUPY NO MORE THAN 1/4TH OF A THREE-DAY BACKPACK VOLUME.
Can you identify specific frequencies and priorities for C4 avionics?
--FREQUENCY IS UNDEFINED.

Is the deadline for the whitepaper March 31, 2010?
--YES.
Are you looking for responses that cover all four research areas of
interest identified in the document?
--RESPONSES THAT COVER ANY OF THE FOUR RESEARCH AREAS INDIVIDUALLY ARE
WELCOME.
Are you anticipating responses primarily from industrial organizations?
Would a response from a purely academic team be welcome, or would you
recommend teaming with an industrial partner?
--RESPONSES FROM ACADEMIC TEAMS ARE WELCOME.

I would like to know   the technology stage (TRL) that you anticipate for
this work. From the    solicitation, it appears you are looking for near
term applications of   off-the-shelf components in unique ways.
--OFFERINGS AT TRL 4   AND HIGHER ARE PREFERRED.

What is due by March 31; just the white paper or the full proposal?
--WHITE PAPER ONLY IS DUE BY MARCH 31.
The BAA gives format and page length information for the white paper,
but not the full proposal. Will additional details on format and
length of full proposals be provided if and when NAVEODTECHDIV requests
those after reviewing white papers?
--YES, DEATILS FOR SUBMISSION OF FULL PROPOSALS WILL BE DEFINED AT A
LATER DATE.

Can we submit multiple white papers with varying concepts, or if we
would need to consolidate them all into a single white paper?
--MULTIPLE WHITE PAPERS WITH VARYING CONCEPTS ARE WELCOMED.

Is Research Area I, VTOL MAV airframes, of the solicitation targeted at
evaluation and development of existing vehicle concepts or more broad
research into vehicle related technologies?
--THOUGH TARGETED AT EVALUATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF EXISTING VEHICLE
CONCEPTS, BROAD REASEARCH INTO VEHICLE RELATED TECHNOLOGIES OFFERINGS
ARE WELCOMED.
Is there a specific airframe size targeted? For example specific
maximum stowed dimensions and weight, or must the system simply be
"back-packable"?

What is the expected scope, in terms of funding and duration, for
proposed efforts?
--FUNDING AND DURATION IS UNDEFINED AT THIS STAGE.

Are there specific VTOL MAV that are of interest? Would a payload
configuration weighing less than a pound and is suitable for many UAS.
--NO.
The BAA states that classified white papers will not be accepted. Will
classified proposals be accepted? Some of our technology that is most
applicable to NAVEOD would need to be described in a classified
proposal.
--CLASSIFIED PROPOSALS WILL BE ACCEPTED WHEN REQUESTED AT A LATER DATE.

You mentioned in your BAA announcement that the white papers are
limited to 5 pages and you have 4 research areas. Are the 5 page limit
for per research area or is it for all 4 areas? Therefore if one wanted
to submit for all 4 areas could we then submit white papers for each
individual research area, which would be a total of 20 pages?
--FIVE PAGE LIMIT APPLIES TO SUBMISSIONS FOR EACH RESEARCH AREA. A
SUBMISSION FOR ALL FOUR RESEARCH AREAS MAY BE UP TO A TOTAL OF 20
PAGES.
You mentioned that offers who submit white papers could be selected to
provide follow-on technical and cost proposals, when do you think you
would be making that determination and would that then be for a
possible CRAD or would you then put out a RFP?
--DETAILS FOR FOLLOW-ON SUBMISSION WILL BE DEFINED AT A LATER DATE. THE
PATH FORWARD (CRAD VS RFP) WILL DEPEND ON THE TECHNOLOGY READINESS OF
THE SELECTED PROPOSALS.

date of the BAA.
