GARDEN DESIGNER DIARMUID GAVIN JOINS
THE NEW NISSAN MICRA TOUR IN WORTHING
Garden designer and popular TV personality, Diarmuid Gavin, will be touring the UK as part
of the launch of the much anticipated, new Nissan Micra.
The new Nissan Micra will be unveiled in 10 specially selected cities across the UK, giving
prospective buyers a sneak preview of what is to come before it goes on sale in November.
As part of the ‘New Nissan Micra Tour,’ the fourth generation of the iconic city car will be
revealed at Worthing Ferring Garden Centre on Littlehampton Road in Ferring, on 8th
October at 9am. The vehicle will available to view until close of 12th October.
And as a nod to the new Nissan Micra - a car that prides itself on being small, yet stylish
and user friendly - Diarmuid will be at Worthing Ferring Garden Centre on 10th October at
11am and 2pm to share his green fingered hints and tips about how best to maximise the
potential of a small garden.
Diarmuid, who has presented and appeared in shows as varied as Homefront and Chelsea
Flower Show, says: “Many people can make the mistake of underestimating the potential of
a small garden and I want to show how they can be interesting, accessible, fun and stylish -
just like the new Micra. I’m a big Nissan fan and my mum’s a loyal Micra driver, so I’m
looking forward to test driving the new model at the launch.”
The event will feature an 8m by 8m attention-grabbing, state of the art display box that will
showcase the new car as well as interactive features, information screens and
demonstration models to illustrate the range of benefits to be enjoyed from the new Micra.
There will also be a test drive area for discerning drivers who want a taste of the stylish,
accessible compact car for themselves.
The new Micra is designed to simplify day-to-day life for its owners and features a wide
range of functional, technological advancements. A first for a car of its size, the new Micra
is available with a parking slot measurement device, to lessen the burden of parking in tight
spaces. Reverse sensors are also available.
Retaining its compact dimensions, the new car is slightly longer and marginally lower, while
its longer wheelbase enables a ‘wheels-at-each-corner’ stance and a roomier interior.
The new Micra features Nissan’s all-new naturally aspirated HR12 1.2 litre, 3-cyclinder
petrol engine with valve-timing control (VTC) and is available with either a 5-speed manual
gearbox or the all-new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
Particular attention has been paid to ride and handling characteristics which combine
agility, refinement and poise, as well as bump absorption.
The legendary class-topping turning radius of 4.5m has been retained along with several
new technologies that minimise CO2 emissions and mileage. Not just kinder for the
environment, the new Nissan Micra also benefits the owner with lower running costs –
annual road tax for the new model is just £35.
On course to create a whole new set of industry standards, the new Micra offers Nissan
Connect, Nissan’s accessible touch-screen combined audio and satellite navigation system,
glass roof, automatic wipers and speed sensitive volume on the audio, in addition to a drive
computer which supplies drivers with real time fuel economy information, cruising range
and outside temperature. It will even wish you a happy birthday.
On the security side, the car is also fitted with a speed-sensitive automatic door locking
Mark Kinnard, Category Manager, City Cars at Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd, says: “The Micra
has gained a reputation as a reliable, stylish, accessible compact car enjoyed by a wide
cross section of customers. The new Micra has been designed to build on that trend and is
a combination of over 25 years’ experience of designing compact cars for city driving with a
totally new, versatile platform and Nissan production know-how. The result is modern,
simple and destined to be a serious competitor in the UK market.”
Sales of the new Nissan Micra will begin in November.
