                 How Does Your Garden Grow?
                   It’s only March…but any gardening
enthusiast knows it’s not too early
                   to start thinking about spring
and summer plantings. We are no different. Our
beautiful Remembrance Garden is a continual
work in progress. Each year we add new plantings
or replace a few from winter freeze. We also invite
donors to make a dedication in honor or memory
of a loved one. The opportunities are listed below.
We hope you will help us make our garden grow and
continue to provide this quiet oasis for our families.

The Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan Remembrance Garden lets you honor or remember a loved one - a memory as vivid and strong as it is in
your heart - by writing it on the sitting wall, flowers, benches and tree of a living garden.
You can write a name and a tribute on a bench, on a wing of a butterfly, on a sitting wall, dedicate flowers, a tree or a pond, or turn a stone into a poem.
Your loved one - the light of your life, your everything, the one who made you laugh and can still make time stand still in your heart - the Remembrance
Garden recognizes them all in an eloquent way.
Time passes, slowly rubbing away the images, the words, it shouldn’t.

            Holidays at RMH
IMAGINE BEING AWAY FROM HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS…now imagine being away from home with an ill child. This
past holiday season our House was at capacity with families unable to return home for the holidays. In an endeavor to make the
season as bright as possible under difficult circumstances, we deck the halls, make holiday cookies, hold special events, bring
in entertainment, coordinate activities, and provide gifts for all families to open on Christmas Day. This is all made possible
due to the many volunteers who decorate, donate meals and gifts, prepare cards and any number of other things that make the
holidays bright. Thank you to the following:

Holiday decorating: Delta Xi Phi Multicultural Sorority of MSU, MSU Pre-PA Club, St. Stephen’s Community Church, Susan
Schwaderer, and Ronn Blodgett (The Mole Hole) & Julie Aguirre (The Blodgett Agency) for setting up our holiday village.
Holiday cards for families: MSU Society of Women Engineers
Christmas card making: Pi Kappa Gamma, MSU Pre-PA
Helping with our annual Lend-a-Hand holiday appeal mailing: I*Q Dance Team, MSU Nursing Student Association
Cookie baking: Jodi Redinger & Friends, T’Kira Woods, Andrea Cascarilla, Brownie Troop 286
Holiday meals and goodies: Terry Hagan & Family, Wacousta Girl Scout Troop 102, Perrin & Anita Parkhurst
Holiday volunteers: Licardo Dwgwra (Thanksgiving), Ruth Lumbert (preparation of our Christmas turkey), Billie Berman,

   RMH 2007 Holiday Card
Before school was dismissed for summer break in 2007, RMHMM invited area students to submit a design for our official 2007
Holiday Card. Sarah Summers, senior at Mason High School, submitted the winning design. She received a $100 prize for her
design. The cards were sent to our donors this past holiday season and were also sold at the House. We hope this is only the
beginning of a tradition and each year we will have a new holiday card. If you are or know a student (elementary through college)
who would like to submit a design, or you are a teacher interested in submitting designs from your students, please contact us at
517-485-9825. The 2007 card is still available and can be purchased for $20 for a box of 10. To purchase, stop by the House or
contact us at 517-485-9303 (it would be our pleasure to send the box to you, however there will be a $2 handling/mailing fee).

There Are So Many Ways To Help
The House is always in need of helpers and support. Consider collecting pull tabs, holding a wish-list drive, becoming a worker
bee at the House, preparing a meal for families or baking cookies, preparing busy bags for the children or snack bags, or adopting a
garden and keeping them lovely during the summer. Are you a musician or in a choir or band at school? Consider bringing them in
for family entertainment! More great ideas include sponsoring a Bingo or game night or decorating the House for a special holiday.
The opportunities are limited only by imagination. Have an idea or an interest? Please contact Ruth at 485-9303.

     Helping Groups/Helping Hands
Kids at the Clinton County 4-H & Youth Fair not only had
a great day but they also did good for others by collecting

Happy Mother’s and Father’s Day
There is nothing like the love of a mom or dad. Every parent wishes their child will grow up happy and healthy. Yet each year, for many families that
turns into a hope and a wish for a cure, a treatment, and sometimes even a miracle as they face a parent’s worst nightmare—a sick child.

For nearly 8 years, the RMHMM has helped to foster hope by providing a home-away-from-home for thousands of parents and families
while a child they love receives medical care at local hospitals and clinics.

This year when you are honoring the special mom or dad in your life, or when you’re searching for the perfect gift for family or friends, consider making a
donation in their names to the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan. Help us fill our House with hope and love for moms and dads that come from
across the state and country, and show your Mom or Dad (or brother, sister or friend) just how much you love and appreciate them.

Philanthrophy– is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality
of life. A donor bill of rights has been developed by the American Association of Fund Raising Council, Association for Healthcare
Philanthropy, Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Over the next year,
we will provide items within that bill of rights. We at the Ronald McDonald House always strive to fulfill our commitment to you, the
individuals who sustain the House. If at any time you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

 I. To be informed of the organization’s mission, of the way the organization intends to use the donated resources and of its capacity
to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.

II. To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent
