Bikini Bottom Scientific Method Example - 6D

									             Bikini Bottom Experiments – Bubble Time
Purpose: To find out what brand of gum will blow the biggest
bubble so that Patrick can win the Bikini Bottom Big Bubble
Contest.
Hypothesis:

   Brand A will have the largest bubble. I believe this is
    because it comes in the largest pieces.
   Brand B will have the largest bubble. I believe this is
    because in the past I have blown the largest bubbles with
    this type of gum.
   Brand C will have the largest bubble. I believe this is
    because it is the most popular bubble gum brand.
   Brand D will have the largest. I believe this is because
    winners in the past have used this gum.
Materials:

     Gumball
     Trident
     Super Bubble
     Hubba Bubba
     Juicy Fruit
     Ruler/string/tape measure
     Stopwatch
     Pencil
   paper
Procedure:
  1) Unwrap a gumball
  2) Place gum in mouth
  3) Chew for 30 seconds
  4) Blow the largest bubble you can!
  5) Measure the bubble (with a partner or take it out of your
     mouth and measure on the table)
  6) Record your results on paper!
  7) Pop/deflate your bubble gum
  8) Throw the gum and wrapper in the garbage
  9) Repeat steps 1) through 8) with each type of bubble gum.
Observations: Measure each bubble across the circle in cm.

   The trident gum slipped out of the testers mouth and fell
    on the floor before they could measure it.
   Gumball tasted stale. It was not chewy.
Conclusions:
Based on the data collected Hubba Bubba had the largest
bubble. My hypothesis was correct. Patrick should use Hubba
Bubba gum in the Bikini Bottom Big Bubble Contest.
