Comment
Applicant is late, appears anxious and panicky and there is no greet to the interviewer
appropriately.
It reminded me of a time when i was late to a job interview.
The applicant appears a little bit arrogant, lacks understanding of the interview process and
what is expected. Her body language suggests that is not interested.
the interviewer is very professional and he is so far dealing with the situation very well.
The appliant's body language suggests that she is treating her like in an informal interaction. She
has no previous experience of the job interview, and does not understand how to behave.
Her bug shouldn't be on the table. In terms of body language refering to my knowledge
everything is wrong. Also appears a little bit nervous, because she is playing with her hair, and
touching her face, moving backwards and forward. Obviously the phone should be turned off.
Even without knowing what is the job she is applying for, it is clear that she could not get the
job, except it is about pornography or stripping.
Also at this point i think that the interviewer while she is being professional needs to take
control of the interview.
I ignore the phone conversation, it was too over the top. Initial impressions of this applicant is
that she is very young, inexperienced, arrogant and not prepared. I noticed she continues to soft
manipulate, playing with her hair, blowing bubbles. Her response suggests that she is poorly
educated and not that interested in the job.
The interviewer is partly to blaim for now, because she allows the applicant to continue her
behaviour.
Applicant uses her arms to illustrate what she is talking about. Her responses are very generic
and selfcentered, and do not seem to apply to any job.
The interviewer is regulating her behaviour quite well and i am not able to see if she is sutisfied
or disutisfied with the applicant, or if she finds it amusing.
Relating back to my research, the interviewer is demonstrating display rules, meaning that she
can display nutrality even though she may be furstrated or amused.
Applicant rambles and changes the pitch of her voice to emphasize her point. She continues to
be over the top with her body language and has not been able to answer any of the questions
appropriately.
I noticed the interviewer taking notes, and that suggests that she is pretending to be interested
in order not to show that te applicant has no chance to get the job.
Even though i said that the interviewer is partly to blame for the bad interview, she is
undertaking good practice by not indicating that it is not a bad interview, or by giving clues that
the applicant has no chance of getting the job.
The applicant's body language, tone of voice and verbal communication indicate that she is not
interested in the job, and that maybe she has been forced to go to the interview. It appears that
The interviewer demonstates good interpersonal skills, by remaining calm and nutral, even
though i said she was partly to blame in the beginning.
She did not knock the door. She is running and out of breath.Disrespectful attitude, like meeting
a mate. She is either very anxious or she does not care.
She seems to avoid the bad attitude, and she greeting her in a friendly way. She stood up from
the chair and that shows respect to the person she is meeting.
Avoids the handshaking. Shows a person without manners, completely rude and disrespectful
and maybe inappropriate for the job.
She continues to be friendly and professional. However she seems to struggle and wonder.
She takes a seat with being offered to. She throws the bag on the desk, which is disrespectful
again. She seems to have unwarranted familiarity. Her face shows apathy. Her is making a
gesture with her hand, showing coolness, as well as with her legs crossing.
She is introducing herself, and continues to be polite.
The resume is at the pocket as a scratch paper. Does se really care about the job? She opens it
and puts it on the table flashily with her hand on it. She lies back on the chair with extreme
limpness. Rude attitude again continues. She ssems like having the job at her hand. Playing with
her hair and her legs.
She is loosing her words, she doesn't believe probably what she sees, playing with the paper and
seems a bit lost. Though, she continues in a friendly way.
She is asking flashily a question about the salary. she doesn't let the interviewer to lead the
interview. She is bothering with her finger nails and that shows apathy. She comes closer to the
desk while she is expeccting an answer for the salary, which concerns her.
Pretending that the phone is not hers is ridiculous.
She makes a silly gesture to excuse herself and directly icks up the phone. She keeps taling until
the interviewer interrupts her with a her cue.
Seems very polite and kind again. her patience is extreme also.
Very politely she coughs to let her understand she should end the call.
Chewing gum is completely unacceptable. She responds to the team working question as a
selfish person. Cheerleading is not so a competence attribute. She keeps moving all the time,
shaking her hands, playing with her hair and having over the top manners.
She keeps being annoying to me. A personal goal achievemnt is not shopping at the market.
Flashing her hand on the desk again to express her win...
Keeps on track with some important questions. She seems to be very professional and avoiding
been biased by the person opposite her. Very nice.
Just silly. Not even a goodby. Again no handshaking, with gum...
very patient for the situation. Professionalism is here very obvious. She seems very calm, like
she has much experience for that kind of applicants.
The interviewee's body language is very disrespectful. All these signs - chewing gum? looking at
her finger nails, pulling our a scrumbled piece of paper from her pocket, the sitting posture,
etc...just not acceptable professional behaviour. I would show her the door asap.
Although it is in general not acceptable to have mobile on but i remember on one occasion, the
interviewee has to stand by for an urgent call (wife in hospital). He sought the permission to
leave his mobile on just in case...and that was fine.
I remember a situation when I offered a handshake and was ignore...I could not understand
why. Later on, i realised what might be the reason. The person is a strict Muslim and me being a
woman, it might not be permitted for him to shake my hand!
how rude! not employable!
She is as patient as a saint. I would have immediately finished the interview by telling her that
she is not ready for profressional interview with this attitude and showed her the door, with a
hand-shake.
The interviewer may feel discomfort and confusion due to the unexpected behaviour of the
interviewee. The interviewer may be thinking that she would not wish to work with people who
do not take her (or the job) seriously.
I had a similar situation when a candidate rushed to the interview showing little interest. This
made me think immediately that I would not wish to work with them. However, I had to force
myself to keep calm and positive, to ensure the candidate is given sufficient attention.
The interviewee continuous to show ignorance. She is hyperactive and presents herself as
lacking any interest in the position.
The interviewer becomes annoyed and forces herself to be calm. However, she uses sarcasm in
her voice when she 'thanks' for the resume and for the reminder that the resume is at the back
of the application form. The interviewer may be thinking why did she agree to interview the
candidate in the first place.
The interviewer becomes really annoyed. She forces herself to keep calm and occupied while
the candidate talks on her mobile. She must have decided that there is no way this candidate
gets the job.

the candidate talks on her mobile. She must have decided that there is no way this candidate

The interviewee is chewing gum. She remains disinterested. She is hyperactive and
overenthusiastic. She completely ignores the interviewer and the question she is being asked.
She makes unusual movements with her body.
The interviewer is annoyed. She tries to keep calm but is struggling to hide this. She may be
feeling unsequre and confused.
I had a similar situation interviewing a candidate behaving strangely. He was hypercative and
interruptive. This made me feeling very confused and not knowing how to continue the
interview. I tried to come with some concrete questions but was rushing to finish the interview
as soon as possible, determined that the person would not be a suitable candidate.
The interviewer rushes the end of the interview. She is very short and tries to be as calm as
possible. She is determined that the candidate will not get the job.
The interviewee rushes into the room.
She seems really nervous like this is a very important thing for her but still she is late.
She appears very understanding of the situation and tries to make the interviewee feel
comfortable even though she is late
Personally I try not to be late in such events. Actually I usually arrive at least 30 minutes earlier.
seems very cool and comfortable in the situation. She is even chewing a gum
She is very impressed (the bad way) on how the girl keeps her CV on the back pocket of her
jeans but she handles the situation very professionally
Very impressed with how she is holding her CV like is very unimportant.
She is looking at her hands like she is not interested in what is happening and I think she feels
very confident
she tries to be very professional explaining the interview structure even though she can see that
the girl is not really paying attention
She is overconfident
seems annoyed and impressed again by the phone ringing
She does not care about the interviewer. She is very confident and arrogant
She is obviously very annoyed with the interviewee and she is trying to make her realise that by
clearing her throat
She is obviously very annoyed with the interviewee and she is trying to make her realise that by
clearing her throat
I would have thrown her out by now!!!
I have been asked this question at almost all the interviews I have been. It seems like a very
important question even when is a job that needs to be done by only one person, the potential
employer wants to know that you are a team player.
She is again overconfident, she is not answering the question directly and she seems like she
just wants to leave.
She is not getting the answer she wants and keeps asking for examples. But she also wants to
get over with this one.
I have not been asked this question to be honest but I should prepare an answer.
She did not even bother to make handshake with the interviewer and seems like she is in a hurry
to leave.
Even after this she is trying to be polite and handshake with the girl. She is like lucking self
esteem she even says goodbye after the interviewee left!!
I think the interviewee is very rude by not returning her hand to shake with the interviewer
She gives her resume in a folded paper, making the interviewer think she is inorganised. Her
body language indicates that she acts in an arrogant way.
The interviewee feels so comfortable with the interviewer so that she answers her telephone
and makes a conversation while being in the interview. She does not feel the need to apologise
afterwards or have mute her telephone. She continues to be arrogant.
The interviewee continues to demonstrate her superiority to the interviewer by chewing gum
and giving irrelevant answers to the questions of the interviewer focusing on her personal
achievements in shopping while expressing her opinions on team work which summarize to one
A quick exit similar to her entrance. She probably feels very very important to shake hands with
the interviewer.
This young 'lady' has no concept of timekeeping, and, having arrived late offers a rushed,
insincere apology. Seats herself and reclines in an over familiar fashion.
Ignored the offered handshake. No eye contact. Very poor body language.
Not prepared for the interview. No proper CV prepared. Handwritten on the back of the
application form. Folded in jean pockets.
Not only does the young lady's phone ring, not only is her ringtone nothing short of offensive to
any developed ear, but she then proceeds to take the call. Derogatory comments are then
passed about the interviewer.
The applicant is chewing gum throughout the interview and even blows bubbles with the stuff. I
hope she chokes.
The applicant is chewing gum throughout the interview and even blows bubbles with the stuff. I
hope she chokes.
The applicant is clearly most moved when discussing herself and the various merits of her own
'personality'. No attempt is made to actually understand - far less answer the question of
teamwork. Body language and tone of voice become borderline aggressive when describing how
fantastic a person she thinks she is.
She enters the room very funny. Rushed through the door with silly gestures of her face and
trempling her hands. No handshake at all indicates inpoliteness nd rudeness. She takes a seat
whet not offered one and relaxes laying back on the chair.
Seems very professional. Introductory steps are in the frame of general job interview process.
She is annoyed though about the handshake.
Once i was late for an interviewee, only 5 minutes, however i entered the room having my eyes
down on the floor and apologised for my latency.
When i was late, the interviewer understoodthat i was not making a fool of him and directly
tried to calm me down.
Asking for a CV is normal afterthe introductory steps.
She started being ignorrant and unconcerned. Looking at her nails and chewing gum...very
inpolite outbursting to ask directly a question about the salary.
She pretends that the CV is allright to be like a scratch paper.
I onlu asked once about the salary when i was offered the opportunity to do so. this was at the
end of the interview, and the intrviewer forgot to mention this to me.
Completely insignificant for the process. How rude not only having your phone sound on but
answering it is like stupid!
She keeps her temper and very politely points that the phone inging is not hers. Even after the
"chat" she kindly askes to continue
Once in an interview, the interviewer's phone started ringing. I did not like that at all also.
Very good question to ask. Shows how people interact with each other and presents the ability
of the person to collaborate.
As selfish as it could be...silly actually and very over the top.
what to say about her now, i do not know...just furious about herself.
what to say about her now, i do not know...just furious about herself.
Crossing and moving her legs like she is for coffee. Claps her hand like achieving to finish the
interview and go for shopping. Not paying attention and respect at alll.
Very politely she is finishing the process. typically she says that they will let her know as soon as
possible. Offering a handshake again with no return.
Not only comes late to the interview, does not even great the interviewer and scoffs. Very bad
etiquette.
Has a bag and does not use it for carrying her important documents, this shows a lack of interest
or respect for her personal goods. Also slouches in the chair, very bad posture. Chewing gum, is
a big mistake and finally you shouldn't play with your hair in an interview.
Never ask how much you will get paid. Personally I feel this is rude, unless it is the last round and
you feel confident after the interview that you have got the job. Looks at her nails, and is rude
when asking the question. She is however very calm and confident, no inhibitions.
You should always have your phone on silent in an interview and you should never answer it, or
even comment about the interviewer in front of them. Shows a lack of respect.
Classic questions from the examiner, to make you show off your team work skills and instead,
she answers poorly by starting to talk about herself.
In an interview you are trying to sell yourself, but you have to back up your claims with
evidence.
A lack of respect again shown to the interviewer, who has tried to coax her consistently into
giving more information about herself.
Greets the interviewer appropriately, as I have in the past. In addition like myself, the
interviewee waits to be told to sit down, all part of showing the proper respect to the
interviewer.
You can see the right leg of the interviewee twitching, which seems to show he is a bit nervous,
like I have in the past, however it is cleverly hidden under the desk, so as the interviewer does
not recognise that he is nervous, even though later on he seems to be well prepared.
Exactly how I use my hands when I speak. He uses them to emphasise his points. Also great
posture, it seems like he is really up for this exam.
A question I have always asked, as it shows interest and enthusiasm about the job. Leaving
without asking the question seems to show a lack of interest.
When greeting an interviewer, using his first name shows in my opinion a lack of respect, even
though he is fairly old (in the sense that he is not a student who has graduated from college)he
should still refer the interviewer as Mr. X. However, he stands up and shakes the interviewers
hand which is crucial.

He should not be playing with this pen, for example he is clicking it and fidgeting with it. His
posture is good and he seems calm, as he answers the question very well.
Shows a lack of knowledge about the company. Should be using the company's name and when
he says "move more in the direction of what this comany does"...what does this company do?
be specific, if you know show off. Otherwise it seems like you do not know what you are
applying for.
The interviewer does not seem friendly or trying to calm the interviewees nerves. Folding your
arms like that makes him seem a lot stricter, and it does not help the candidate if he is nervous.
Good use of hands, as I would do, he tries to emphasise his point with the use of his hands.
Always a difficult question, but answered perfectly, points again to his previous achievements,
and shows he has done his research as he knows the basic salary. Also does not state a figure, so
that is a positive.
confidently shows off his skill set. Again though playing with his pen.
says "yeah, yeah"...what kind of a response is that to what the interviewee is saying? lack of
respect and shows he is not to bothered.
Deals with the lack of respect and interest well. Keeps calm. Normally do not have som much
patience.
Changes the pitch of the tone of her voice. Trying to show off, which is ok to a certain extent in
an interview, but not to such a great extent.
Good use of her hands, until she hits the table. Changes pitch of her voice again.
Good use of her hands, until she hits the table. Changes pitch of her voice again.
the interviewer has good body language not giving anything away, still taking notes, even
though it seems pretty obvious that the interviewee will not get the job. It has happened at all
my interviews, you can never understand how the interview is going, as their body language
Hangs up the phone, shows commitment to the interview and does research. Reminds me of
what I have had to do for interviews, look up information to show them you care and are
interested in the job.
Does not care, shows a lack of interest. Says a couple of seconds later, just a job interview. Too
carefree, and clearly not interested in really getting the job, also must not have had previous
practice as everyone knows you have to do research to get the job.
Great that she gives the interviewer extra information about herself. Gives herself a boost,
shows organisation and desire to get the job.
Shows a lack of interest in the portfolio, should have at least skimmed through it in front of her.
slouching a bit, though she is interested in the interview. As for the answer never finish with just
cos...try and always finish on a strong note. I have been given feedback, that you should never
be informal and the end of sentences are what stick out in interviewers minds.
voice drops off, shows he is already a bit annoyed.
very relaxed, does not even shake the examiners hand. Acts as if this was a mock interview.
never bring a ball into an interview. Bad etiquette, also never slam hands on the table, or have
elbows up. In addition the phone should be in a pocket. Again a lack of interest, clearly does not
want the job desperately.
phone should be off. Lack of respect, by saying hold on for one second.
tries to get control of the interview, telling her to put away the phone. Has to have the power in
the interview.
The interviewee clearly deserves no respect, but he should not be rude, he should be
professional. Muttering words, when he is annoyed gets him nowhere. Clearly frustrated at the
lack of respect by the candidate. Also the gum comment shows he has given up on her. It is ok
to be sidetracked by other interests, but when the interviewer notices something on you that he
does not like, the interview is already over.

If you ever will? not professional, clearly frustrated and annoyed by lack of interest by the
candidate, but again his anger is getting the best of him. Should be calm and collected and not
bothered about the candidate, should try and get the interview back on track and finish it off
quickly. Snide remarks do not help, I have had harsh interviewers in the past and if you are a
nervous candidate these types of interviewers do not help at all.
Interviewee is late, overly informal, poorly presented and is too laid back in his body language.
No eye contact, lounging in chair, seems disinterested.
No thought as to strengths/weaknesses. No understanding of strengths relative to the role
available. Gesticulation is vague - rather than accentuating a point his body language is
exasperating his non-commitable manner
Takes the call - phone should not be alone, never mind answered.
views the interview as solely to determine whether he can get what he wants - not what he can
bring to the position
No research into the position, no enthusiasm for the position and going to the bar every night.
Just thought he would give it a shot!
No clear reason as to what he brings to the company, vague responses. Arrogance towards the
interviewer - "you just asked me that question"!
Doesn't know what he wants in the short term, how they are relevant to the business, and is
concerned only with 'getting rich' and enjoying his retirement!
Does not know what the company does and sighs when asked the question as though the
interview is boring/taxing him (no pun intended)!
The questionn is valid enough - though again points towards a lack of preparation. Again
however it is phrased in a nonchalant manner which undermines his lack of
interest/preparation/commitment.
Interviewee keeps playing with her hair - seems distracted and/or nervous.
Interviewee keeps playing with her hair - seems distracted and/or nervous.
no clear perception of weaknesses and those she identifies are negative i.e. point towards
potential problems with her as an employee, rather than positive perceptions of where she can
develop.
The interviewer does not maintain good eye contact and is reading from a script. This indicates
that they do not have the ability to adapt their interviewing technique to understand the
interviewee better. Many people I have hired did not come across well initially but once I
adapted the style of the interview I was able to understand them better and identify strengths
previously overlooked.
The reasons for why she should be hired are orientated around what is in it for the interviewee
and not what she brings to the company. This is not answering the question asked.
doesn't particularly want to work there, just wants a job. Doesn't know/have aby clear goals.
Completely failing to sell herself to the interviewer.
No knowledge or research into the company or role. Shows lack of enthusiasm, desire and
preparedness. Impossible to 'seel yourself' as capable of a role when you do not know what your
role is!
The interviewer leans back and boasts about how great the company is. This is poor as it
engenders a defensive/inferior position on beghalf of the applicant and is prohibitive to their
'opening up'.
good to see the interviewer lay out clearly the role/attributes they are looking for at the
beginning of the interview.
Applicant is on time, well presented, has prepared his research on the company, and
importantly thanks the interviewer for taking the time to see him. This demonstrates
enthusiasm and desire and shows that he is able to communicate effectively.
The applicant is able to concisely present the key areas of his previous experience and his
motivation for joining the company.
the interviewer has repeatedly been encouraging by saying 'ok - thats good' after a response.
This is helpful because the only drawback from the interviewee is that he seems a little nervous.
The interviewee has his hands in front of him which indicates that he is concentrated and he is
not fidgeting which would indicate nervousness or distraction/lack of interest.
The interviewer stayed relaxed and received praise in a calm manner without dropping his focus.
Emotionally calm and smiling towards the end. An interesting point was that whether
intentional or not both men mimicked/copied one anothers body language throught - hands
clasped, lent back at the same time, lent forwards at the same time etc
Interviewee looks bored and distracted owing to the lateness of the interviewer. Looks like he is
falling asleep. Poorly presented.
Interviewee looks bored and distracted owing to the lateness of the interviewer. Looks like he is
falling asleep. Poorly presented.
Interviewer is late and both seem overly friendly. This might not be a problem but makes what
happens in the interview seem irrelevant.
Interviewee seems upbeat and enthusiastic. Sitting forwards and paying attention.
The interviewer is doing well to ask open questions which allow the applicant to express
themselves, rather than just 'yes' or 'no' answers.
The interviewee is gesticulation at times appropriate to enhancing his point.
The interviewer is coming across well with his encouragement - letting the applicant know that
he really liked the answer, but his body language is poor. He has his arms crossed as if he is
'closed' whereas the applicant has remained open and expressive.
The interviewee is fidgeting with his pen and has stopped making/maintaining eye contact.
Interviewee rushed into the room, not introducing herself.
Interviewee sits down before the interviewer - not very polite!
when handing over CV, not in very good conditions
Body language and reaction of Interviewer tells that she is not happy with the CV she received
Interviewer explains the structure of the interview at the beginning - that's the same as I have
experienced it in my interviews.
From my personal experience I know, that you should never ask the interviewer how much the
payment will be. Furthermore, the interviewee should not eat a chewing gum.
1. Mobile Phone has to be on silent.
2. Interviewee does not react on phone call.
3. Very bad to pick up the phone call, should have apologized and not pick up
interviewee does not have good body language. She should sit appropriate on her chair.
Furthermore, when she mentions cheerleading, she should not make this funny movement.
Interviewer tries to be very objective and calm.
no structured answer in video. From my personal experience, I know that a structured answer is
extremely important.
From interviewers conclusion you can see that they won't make her an offer. Especially when
she says> we are coming back to you within the next couple of days, ... - that's always a bad sign.
rejecting hand shake gives a very bad impression
he has his application forms prepared. Furthermore, he is waiting until she is asking him to sit
down. Overall impression - polite applicant.
structured answer,
very good body language, especially the way how he is using his hands.
Interviewer is taking notes. From my own experience, I know that this can be irritating.
However, if the interviewer is taking lots of notes, that's often a good sign.
From my own experience I know that it is extremely important to have some questions ready to
ask if Interviewer is aksing you to do so.
Interviewer shows interest in company. However, very closed body language, should use arms
more and not cross her feed.
From my own experience I know, that if you have interviews with managers from higher levels,
than the interviews are often a bit more informal.
interviewer is asking very private questions. From my point of view, he should not be concerned
if she is sending money back or not. Furthermore, his body language is very relaxed. Therefore,
could give the impression too the interviewer that he wants to let her know he is the boss.
Good answer, as she explains why job would not be a problem for day care of her children.
From my own experience I think that it is always important to ask questions, it shows interest.
Even if you read the job description on the homepage before that.
She should use better examples. Again no body language and hand movements.
she should focus on other stuff in her research. More facts and figures of company itself.
from her voice, you can tell she is not very interested in the research she is doing.
Interviewer's body language very open and polite.
Very well prepared. Good body language, good seating position.
Answer should be better strucutred. Maybe use hands to support answer. Eg. Firstly, I am
organisyed, ...
Should use examples to support her answer. Again, body language does not show lots of
interest.
Bad body language:
1. interviewee is rejecting hand shake
2. intervieww is playing with her mobile phone, while interviewer is asking her questions.
