Kairos is an international Christian ministry. Kairos Prison Ministry International, Inc. is the parent organization of a body
of ministries operating as Chapters that are located in many states and countries addressing the spiritual needs of
incarcerated men, women and children, and to their families and to those who work in the prison environment. Kairos
sprang from the Cursillo movement and is supported by Christian volunteers including those from Cursillo, and those
other movements that consider Cursillo as their root. (Walk to Emmaus). Kairos literally needs HUNDREDS of
DOZENS of cookies!

Kairos cookies have become one of the great expectations by both inmates and staff.
You are touching hearts.
And, pray for God’s blessing on the team.
Types of Cookies
The favorites are: Oatmeal, Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Chip
2 – 2 ½ inches in diameter - Size is important – inmates notice
No thicker than ½ inch thick
One dozen per quart freezer zip lock bag
* No icing - * No loose sugar topping - * No fruit - * No candy - * No poppy seeds
* No cookie bars or brownies.
Chocolate chips and nuts may be added to the recipes if you like.
Packing the Cookies
Count is one dozen per bag
Bag should be quart size – flat – zip lock – freezer bags
Please label all bags with type of cookies
If prepared 3 days or more in advance – please freeze cookies until delivery.
Where do I deliver the Cookies?
Please deliver the cookies back to St. Paul’s Sunday, May 13. We will gather them here, freeze
them, and will take them to the main drop off on Thurs 5/17. (Volunteers needed for cookie transport.)
You may have your favorite recipe and you are encouraged to use them.
However, if not, we have a few recipes below.
(preferred Cookie – makes about 12 dozen)
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons salt
2 cups softened butter
2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 - 12-oz packages semi-sweet chocolate chips
Blend flour, soda and salt - set aside. Cream butter, both sugars and vanilla. Add eggs and beat.
Add flour mixture. Fold in chocolate chips. Drop onto ungreased baking sheet by rounded
teaspoon. Bake at 350° for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet; cool completely and/or
freeze before packaging in zip top freezer bags (quart size works best), 1 dozen to a bag.
(makes about 10 dozen)
2 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
3 cups softened butter
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla or cinnamon
7 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
5 cups all-purpose flour
No raisins please.
Heat oven to 350°. Mix all ingredients well except oatmeal and flour. Stir in oats and flour.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheet. Bake
about 10 minutes until light brown. Remove from cookie sheet. Cool completely and/or freeze
before packaging in Ziploc freezer bags (quart size only please), 1 dozen to a bag. If these
cookies spread too much, add extra flour.
Prepare meals for the team on Sunday, May 20
