OXYTOCIN INJECTION: ILLEGAL PRODUCTION, SALE AND CONSUMPTION IN INDIA – Sukanya Kadyan Oxytocin is injected in cows and buffaloes to induce more lactation, though it reduces their life span and creates hormone disorders in consumers. It is banned under schedule H of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Oxytocin Injection recovered by the founder chairman, PFA Haryana Naresh Kadyan, representative of UN affiliated OIPA in India then he shared this information with the State Drug Controller Girdhari Lal Singla, a team was constituted and raid was conducted under the leadership of Naresh Kadyan. Dr Rakesh Gupta, Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), said the FDA raided M/s Tilak Raj Kapil Kumar, Sabji Mandi, Rewari, and seized 600 injections of oxytocin manufactured by M/s Ambika Pharmaceuticals, Gaya, Bihar. These injections were banned and were without any bill. They should have been in a blister pack, but were in single packing, he added. Dr Gupta said the injections were sealed and were produced before CJM RK Bhankar and the custody order was taken.
