Special Laundering Instructions for Appliqué:
Careful selection of materials is necessary to assure compatibility of the appliqué on the garment. Appliqué materials are generally low in
shrinkage, and are most compatible on garments with good shrinkage control. Appliqué materials should not be considerably heavier than
the garment to prevent curling or buckling after laundering.

Pricing (P) is valid through 12/31/10 rev 02/10

Reverse Appliqué

Reverse Appliqué is a laser technique that involves placing a piece of appliqué on the back side of the garment

                                                                                                                                             reverse appliqué
fabric. The design is laser cut through the garment to reveal the appliqué underneath. It’s a unique and interesting
way to add dimension and color to a garment. Our cotton rib appliqué works best for this technique.

Reverse Appliqué is created using Vantage’s latest laser cutting technology. This process may slightly discolor the edge of

providing the latest look in fashion decoration.

Laser Etching
Laser etching is a process that uses laser technology to engrave or burn a mark into the fabric of a garment. This
technique is perfect for our Vantek™ fleece, denim and microsuede jackets. The process varies by fabric, but

                                                                                                                                             laser etching
the end result is a very precise, clean mark that offers an upscale look. Laser etching on fleece, polyester and
microsuede items burns the top layer of the fabric resulting in a darker, tonal mark on the garment. The tone of
the mark will vary based on the color of the fabric. Medium colored fabrics achieve a more distinguishable design
than on darker or lighter fabrics. On denim garments, the process removes the pigment as it burns the fabric.

Water-Based Digital Printing

Digital Printing is an eco-friendly, 4 color process of printing directly from a computer file onto a garment.

                                                                                                                                    water based digital printing
The resulting water-based designs are printed without screens or films and utilize less ink with no excess
ink waste. Ink cartridges are recycled to minimize environmental harm. Digital printing is a good option for
complex designs with multiple colors or low quantity runs on any design.

Digital printing works best on cotton-rich fabrics and is generally not recommended for textured fabrics or
Vansport Tech Polos and similar polyester technical fabrics. It is important to note that the design will not
be as vibrant as with screen printing. Digital printing is only recommended for white or light colored
garments. Vantage offers digital print services in our NJ & CA facilities.

Screen Printing

Over the past 5 years, our screen printing business has grown dramatically, now ranking Vantage as one of the
country’s top volume screen printers. Our talented artists and experienced press operators ensure that your

                                                                                                                              screen printing
screen print designs will look their best. In addition to traditional spot color inks, Vantage offers specialty inks
and art distressing to make your logo or design really stand out. We also offer 4-color process inks for white and
light colors and can achieve simulated 4-color process looks on dark colors. The screen print artist will determine
the best method of separation based on the artwork, garment color, garment style and quantity.

 Spot Color

Spot color images are printed with specific Pantone colors. Spot color art may
be solid logos or may contain halftones. This technique is effective in printing
cartoons, typography, logos and line art. Spot color printing is the most
common technique in our industry. [This method of printing works on light
garments and dark garments when using an underlay and produces a clean,
vibrant print due to the opacity of the ink.]

Four Color Process (True Process) Four Color Process images are printed with four inks, Cyan, Magenta,
Yellow and Black, and are generally referred to as CMYK. It is effective
when attempting to reproduce photo-realistic images in a garment print.
It can also be used for more graphic images that contain a wide variety of
colors which exceed the capabilities of the printing machines. If you viewed
a printed CMYK image through a magnifier, you would see small halftone
dots that, when printed, make up the colors we see. Spot colors are often
used in addition to Four Color Process to match specific colors or solid copy.
[This Method of printing works best on white or very light colored garments
due to the translucent properties of the inks. This method of screen printing
cannot be printed on dark colored garments and matches are not possible
                                          to Pantone colors.]

 Simulated Process
Simulated Process Color images have a photorealistic look but are not printed
with the four process colors of CMYK. Instead, simulated process uses spot
color inks, which make this technique great for dark shirts. When printing
simulated process color, the artist creates separations of halftone images for
spot colors like red, yellow, blue, etc. using as many colors as the shop’s press
can handle. Because the inks for simulated process color are generally all-
purpose, semi-transparent plastisol, they produce a bright image, even when
printed on a white ink underbase. [This method of printing works on light
garments and dark garments when using an underlay and produces a clean,
vibrant print due to the opacity of the ink.]
