Harrisburg Day Trip Information

Our annual day trip this year will be to the new Hershey Story Museum in Hershey and to the
National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg. Both lunch and dinner are included in this year’s trip
You will be transported from Fort Indiantown Gap by private air conditioned motor coach to the
Hershey Story Museum. There you can join a Chocolate Lab Class where can build your own bar with
ingredients that you choose to add based on flavor, appearance and your own preferences. Be inspired
as you explore the Museum Experience at The Hershey Story where interactive exhibits tell you a
pivotal part of Milton Hershey’s amazing rags to riches journey.
At the conclusion of our visit to the Hershey Story Museum, we will board the motor coach and travel
to downtown Harrisburg where we will have lunch at the Appalachian Brewing Company. The
Appalachian Brewing Company is located in a historic downtown building. The impressive three-
story brick and heavy timber structure, was built circa 1915. The lagering room portion of the brew-
ery dates to 1890. Throughout the brewery, antique brick walls, massive wooden beams, hardwood
floors and ceilings provide a warmth and inner glow fitting the first brewery in the Pennsylvania
State Capital since 1951. The cost for lunch is included in your trip fee this year.
After lunch, we will travel to the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg’s historic Reservoir Park
where you will enjoy a series of exhibits in recognition of the Sesquicentennial of the American Civil
War. Each exhibit will highlight the events, battles and people of the first year of the battle 150 years
ago. They are the only museum in The United States that portrays the entire story of the American
Civil War without bias to Union or Confederate causes.
We will end the day with a relaxing dinner cruise on the Pride of the Susquehanna River Boat. We
will cruise the Susquehanna River on board the Pride while enjoying a meal of turkey, ham and all
the trimmings in the elegant inner salon. The dinner is included in the cost of the trip. A cash bar
will be available on board. Following dinner, we will board the motor coach for our return to Fort
Indiantown Gap.
The total cost of our day trip this year is $95.00 per person. You may send either a $50.00 deposit or
the entire trip amount, both per person, to reserve your seat. Please send a check payable to the 28th
Infantry Division Association.
