                                                                                                                           Let the Imaginarium bring the awe and excitement of a night sky to you. The STARLAB is a             anImal SpotlIght
                                                                                                                           Portable Planetarium. It is the field trip to the Stars and Constellations that comes to you! The
                                                                                                                           STARLAB will provide a view of the night sky anytime in almost any indoor location. The                                “Kili”
                                                                                                                           STARLAB is an excellent tool for teaching astronomy, earth science and Greek mythology.
                                                                                                                           The STARLAB can accommodate audiences of 20-30 comfortably. One planetarium show is
                                                                                                                           approximately 30-45 minutes long, plus a question and answer time before and after, so plan the
                                                                                                                           entire program to take an hour. The cost is $175 for one hour of programming and $60 for each
                                                                                                                           additional hour.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                 families who had sheltered and saved Jews during World War II. By 2004, he had discovered
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 roughly 150 Muslim families who had taken part in the rescue of the Jews. Between 1943-1945 it is
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 believed that the people of Greater Albania saved between two and three thousand Jews. Besa,
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 the ancient code of honor, requires an Albanian Muslim to endanger his own life if necessary to
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 save the life of anyone seeking asylum. Besa is, to this day, the highest moral law of the region,
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 superseding religious differences, blood feuds and tribal traditions. This traveling exhibit was made
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 possible through a collaboration with the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Education at the
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 University of Northern Iowa. It includes 41 photographic images and was developed by the Hebrew

                                                                                                                                                                                                                 For fifty years Waterloo has been a hockey town, just ask anyone who has been among the
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 thousands of screaming fans filling the bleachers at each home game. Discover the exciting
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 history of Waterloo’s favorite home team.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                 This exhibit proves that “one man’s garbage is another man’s treasure.” A small group of local
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 diggers love to discover buried treasures in area backyards. Bottles, jars, knick-knacks and shards
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 have been unearthed in abandoned privies or outhouses, which early Waterloo citizens also used
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 as garbage pits. About 100 objects found by local members of the Iowa Antique Bottlers Assoc. are
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 on display.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Now through September 1, 2012
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 During the Civil War many women turned to needlework as a refuge from the stress, loneliness and
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 worry of war. They utilized their skills to support their families, raise money for the cause and create
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 necessary items for soldiers. A century and a half later the sacrifices are still remembered with
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 commemorative fabrics, patterns and quilts that mark the Sesquicentennial of the War Between
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 the States. This exhibit showcases several quilts, some made during the era and commemorative
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 quilts made from ten to 150 years later.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                 During the Civil War, letters were the only way for soldiers and loved ones at home to stay
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 in touch. Although sending letters was slow and unreliable, in the hands of the recipient
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 they were of great comfort. This exhibit captures the stories of two couples torn apart by war.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                 How they lived, loved and survived the ordeal is revealed in their own words.                          8
