PtMS Mobile: General Functions & Software:
PtMS Mobile is a vehicle based hardware/software component that will run in conjunction with the PtMS For Windows
  software package.

PtMS Mobile will allow a vehicle driver to perform the following functions:

                  • Update in real time odometer readings.
                  • Update in real time arrival and departure times.
                  • Update in real time the status of a trip/rider (Onboard, Cancel, No Show).
                  • Update in real time Fares & Donations received for later reconciliation.
                  • GPS routing from current position to the next stop.
                  • Receive eMessages from dispatch containing pertinent information and instructions that can not be
provided or transmitted over open radio frequencies.

PtMS Mobile will allow Dispatch/Management to perform the following functions

                  • See in real time the status of a vehicle’s trip.
                  • Receive eMessages from driver containing pertinent information and updates that can not be provided
or transmitted over open radio frequencies.
                  • Monitor in real time the GPS location of a vehicle.
                  • Monitor in real time, via onboard camera, the activities of a driver and riders.

The GPS activity is acquired through a NMEA compliant GPS receiver mount in or on the vehicle. The GPS receiver
connects to the mobile processing unit via a standard non-USB DB9 or DB25 serial connector. This type of connection is
required as a USB GPS unit has the possibility of jumping COM ports on reboot or disconnect/connect from the mobile
processing unit. To minimize user configuration and interaction attachment via a standard DB9 or DB25 serial COM port
which will allow the assigned COM port to remain static.

The video activity is captured via a standard web/video cam device and is attached to the mobile processing unit via a
standard USB connection. The make and model of the unit will be based on the user’s needs

The data transfer and video monitoring is accomplished with an internet connection via a broadband cellular wireless
connection. This connection, service plan, and corresponding hardware is provided by the cellular carrier that is chosen by
user. If the user is currently using cellular phones that are capable of being used as modems they can use their existing
devices to supply the internet connection.

If no wireless connection option is chosen by the user the driver can still update trip and client details for later download at
their site. GPS functions and routing can still be utilized by the driver without a wireless connection but dispatch and
management will not be able to see or track the vehicle.

The mobile processing unit’s operating system is based on Microsoft Windows XPE. Trip and client updating will be done
via an internet browser. GPS functions and routing will be handled by Klynas Streets or software specified by the user.
The Windows operating system was chosen to accommodate additional software that will be developed under the Windows
  platform.

PtMS Mobile: Data Display Options:
There are several choices that can be incorporated for the data display and user interaction with PtMS Mobile. Fig. 1 shows a
Lilliput 8” touchscreen monitor with a native resolution of 800 x 600. It attaches to the processing unit via a 15 pin D-SUB analog
RGB interface for video display and USB for touchscreen response. There is a built in speaker that attaches to the processing
unit via the speaker out port. Fig. 2 shows the vehicle mounting bracket for the touchscreen.

The unit also has two RCA video inputs, one of which may be utilized for a camera to be placed externally on the rear of the
vehicle to monitor safety hazards when the vehicle is traveling in reverse.

With a touchscreen the user can interact with applications via the Windows XP On Screen Keyboard which may be used in place
of, or in conjunction with, a standard keyboard. A standard keyboard may be used exclusively if so desired.

                                                                                        Fig. 1

                                                                                                                Fig. 2

Please consult with the ABS development team for options beyond the above display system. There are various screens, both
standard and touchscreen, and user input options (keyboards, mice).

PtMS Mobile: Onboard Camera

The onboard camera option allows dispatch and management the ability to review the onboard activities of a vehicle. If the
wireless connection is present they will be able to see these images in real time. If no wireless connection is chosen individual
snapshots of onboard activity can be taken for later review.

PtMS Mobile: Skype Communications Options

By using the Skype communication system in conjunction with the cellular broadband option dispatch and management can
interact with the driver in real time. Skype will allow dispatch to send and receive instant messages from each wireless enabled
vehicle. Examples are directions, schedule add ons, and client information. With auto answer enabled when dispatch/
management calls a vehicle the Skype software on that vehicle will auto answer allowing the driver to have a two-way hands
free conversation. The auto answer will also automatically start the vehicle onboard video allowing dispatch/management to see
the driver and the interior of the vehicle.

PtMS Mobile: Data Transfer (Flash Adapter Option)

If the vehicle is not cellular broadband enabled you can still have the driver update the trip status as normal on the PtMS mobile
system. All data will be maintained on a flash memory device. At the end of the vehicles tour the driver would return the flash
device to be uploaded to the PtMS for Windows system. The updated data would then be merged with that days schedule.

PtMS Mobile: Data Transfer (WiFi Adapter Option)

If the vehicle is not cellular broadband enabled you can still have the driver update the trip status as normal on the PtMS mobile
system. All data will be maintained on that vehicle’s PtMS Mobile system processing unit. At the end of the tour the driver would
pull up to a designated spot and the updated data would be uploaded wirelessly to the PtMS For Windows system. The updated
data would then be merged with that days schedule.

PtMS Mobile: Software Developer(s) Specificatioins

Software developers need only to develop their applications to run on the Microsoft Windows XP platform. All internet browser
applications should be developed to run on Microsoft Internet Explorer.
