                                                           from a predatory stink bug. Jennifer S. Thaler et al. report that in field and greenhouse
                                                           experiments the caterpillar feeds 30–40% less when faced with the risk of predation by stink
                                                           bugs. But the caterpillar makes up for the reduced feeding by developing more rapidly than
                                                           and gaining the same mass as unthreatened caterpillars, suggesting that enhanced nutritional
                                                           physiology, such as increased nutrient assimilation efficiency, allows caterpillars to survive in
