METHODIST SPORTS MEDICINE / THE ORTHOPEDIC SPECIALISTS SUPPORTS
HAMILTON COUNTY FOOD DRIVE.
Indianapolis, IN – March 4, 2008 – Employees of Methodist Sports Medicine / The
Orthopedic Specialists answered the call of those in need by participating in a food drive
to benefit the Hamilton County Food Pantry. Through their donations, an SUV loaded
with food valued at over $1000 was delivered to a collection point at Grace Community
Church near Noblesville, on March 1.
Donated Food Collected at Methodist Sports Medicine / The Orthopedic Specialists
north side location, 201 Pennsylvania Parkway.
The effort was led by Charles Van Meter, M.D. and included employees and physicians
from the practice. “I have been involved in delivering food to families, and it is such a
shock to see how people have no resources, and are literally surviving,” Dr. Van Meter
Employees were asked to donate items easy to prepare and best in nutritional value.
Items most needed at food pantries are canned goods such as; fruit, soup, pork and
beans, spaghetti and meatballs, tuna, salmon, peanut butter and jellies, macaroni and
cheese, juices, and vegetables.
Dr. Van Meter challenged each employee to reach out to those in need. “Taking time to
not just talk about helping, but to take action and give and sacrifice something for those
in real need is a great way to remember how blessed we all are to have what we have
been given,” Dr. Van Meter said. “Thank you to all who contributed so generously.” Dr.
Van Meter urges all to continue finding ways to help through churches and volunteer
organizations that focus on the needy and “marginalized.”
