									              UNION AND INTERSECTION SETS

      The union of two or more sets is a set containing all of the members in those sets. For

example, the union of sets with members 1, 2, 3, and a set with members 3, 4, 5 is the set with

members 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. So we can write:

Let A = {1. 2. 3} and B = {3, 4, 5}, then

A∪B = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5}

      The intersection of two or more sets is the set containing only the members contained in

every set. For example, the intersection of a set with members 1, 2, 3, and a set with members 3,

4, 5 is the set with only member 3. So we can write:

Let A = {1. 2. 3} and B = {3, 4, 5}, then

A ∩ B = {3}
