TITLE: Career and Technical Education (CTE) Planning Coordinator
West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind Campus
RESPONSIBILITY: In collaboration with the Superintendent, principals of the Secondary School for the Deaf
and School for the Blind, and all CTE teachers, organize and coordinate implementation
of the CTE program with particular emphasis on expansion, personalization for individual
students, extension of skill development after graduation or program completion, and
acquisition of independent living skills.
1. Coordinate the discussion of short and long term goals of the CTE program among
all CTE faculty, school principals and the Superintendent
2. Coordinate review of IEPs and all assessment data from 2011-12 on each student
enrolled in a CTE no later than September 30
3. Establish no less than monthly meetings with all CTE faculty, the principals and the
Superintendent to review the progress of short and long term goals of the CTE
4. Collaborate with the Special Assistant to the Superintendent to design the CTE page
for the WVSDB website and materials for distribution statewide that inform counties
and teachers of the available career readiness options at the WVSDB.
RELATIONSHIP: This position is supervised by the Principal of the Secondary School for the Deaf but
collaborates extensively with the Superintendent and the Principal of the School for the
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a valid West Virginia Professional Teacher’s Certificate with an endorsement
in a current area of CTE concentration. Must be a current employee of the WVSDB.
SALARY: This is an extra duty annual contract for $2,500 to cover work accomplished July 1,
2012 through June 30, 2013. No overtime or compensatory time to be accrued.
WORK SCHEDULE: Normal teacher schedule with extended hours to accomplish goals as defined by the
Superintendent and Principals of the Secondary School for the Deaf and School for the
