Raymond Ramos bio:
Ray graduated from The Virginia Military Institute in 1976 with honors in Civil
Engineering. He began his career as a second lieutenant in the 2nd Engineer Battalion,
Republic of Korea, serving as a Platoon Leader and Battalion S-1 officer. Upon his
return to the United States, he served in the 548th Engineer Battalion at Fort Bragg, North
Carolina, with assignments as Company Executive Officer, Battalion S-3 Construction
Officer, and Company Commander. After graduating as the #1 graduate from the
Engineering Officers Advance Course, he went on to Charlotte, North Carolina and an
interesting assignment as the captain in charge of recruiting. If you were to ask him, this
was one of life’s little surprises. A reluctant assignment became a life changing event.
Here he had the opportunity to learn to “sell” one of the hardest commodities; the US
ARMY. Not only did he excel, but it ignited a desire to one day begin his own company.
In 1983 after 8 years in the Army, Ray left to begin a consulting career with Stafford
Consulting Engineers which specialized in roofing/waterproofing engineering services.
After 5 years, Ray left Stafford and moved to Atlanta to start a roofing division with
Westinghouse. A series of changes in direction and ownership of the company prompted
Ray to begin his company on a part-time basis in 1992. The company rapidly grew and
he left to run his company on a full time basis assisted by his wife and partner, Margaret.
Today, Raymond Engineering has grown to 2 locations and a staff of 20 employees.
Ray also is involved in many organizations. He is a past Rockdale County School Board
Member, was the District Chairman of the Yellow River District for Boys Scouts and a
Silver Beaver recipient. He is currently an Executive Board Member with the Atlanta
Area Council for Boy Scouts, serving on the Facilities Committee. As a member of
Epiphany Lutheran Church, he serves on the church council as Secretary. He has or is
currently serving on the boards of the Atlanta Chapter of Society of American Military
Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, and Council of Educational Facilities
Planners International. He is a professional engineer registered in 4 states and is a
Registered Roof Consultant with RCI. He is also a member of ASTM D-08 Committee,
and the International Building Code Council.
He enjoys a good game of golf, skiing full speed down a mountain, a relaxing cruise and
time with his family which includes wife Margaret, son Michael and daughters Katie and
Emily.
